Has anyone in the last 12 months been able to get a Flagship over $50K?

They keep telling me I've, "091 You've reached Navy Federal's maximum unsecured credit limit".

FICO 08's all over 800. NFCU's proprietary score listed as 797 out of 818 possible.

Also listed as a key factor is Too Many Inquiries Within The Last 12 Months. I think I have 1 INQ in the last 12 months on EQ, and it's from the last NFCU CLI denial. LOL.

Is that 797 really a Navy proprietary score? Doesn't NFCU have a prop score range of 100-450? 818 is the top range for EQ04. What are the odds that NFCU randomly has the same high end range as EQ04? Maybe a modified version of EQ04?

Could be EQ 04. I don't remember what NFCUs score range is. That's what was quoted on my denial letter, but there was no mention of FICO®

797 out of 818 on a mortgage score is even cooler.

They've been weird lately.

Maximum exposure is still $80k on credit cards, but wife got the same excuse as you did when trying to go from $75k to $80k.

Are you sure the max is now $80K? I can't find any evidence of anyone getting $80K in the last year or so.

Kind of like Kayvebear has a $50K Walmart visa and no one's gotten over $35K in 2 or 3 years.

Max across all credit card products is still $80k, in spite of what they told my wife. I called them a little while ago and they claim max per card is $50k, except for Flagship which is $80k. I can make another call to a specialist and let you know.

A $50k Wally? I thought for at least the past 5 years the max was $35k for Sync. Lot of weird stuff lately. For two weeks Navy gave me $100k until they came to their senses and clawed it back. USAA used to be a max of $50k, but now seems to have lost their grip and approved near $100k.

I'll send you a PM with results of the other call.

Can I tag along on this post? I am not looking for $50K but just tried my first CLI request with NFCU and received "091 You've reached Navy Federal's maximum unsecured credit limit" in the mail today. Card only has $2K CL on it, I hope this isn't the ceiling!

It shouldn't be the ceiling. I started with a $500 secured card with them. It unsecured and they have given me a couple of CLIs to my current limit of $3,000. I have never requested a CLI from them -- they just automatically gave them to me. Sit back and garden and just let that card grow on its own over time. Patience is a virtue or so they say.

Don't worry, it's not the real ceiling.

What they really mean is that "You've reached YOUR maximum unsecured credit limit with Navy Federal FOR NOW." As your profile improves and / or time with Navy increases, your limit will grow.

I've always taken it as you've reached YOUR limit as well. But I can't get them to budge over $50K. No POI requests or pay stubs etc. Just a FOAD. That's why I wondered if they'd tightened their belt.

NFCU has tightened in other areas over the last 12 months or so.

They have tightened the BK requirements. There is no unsecured under 1 year seasoning and max initial CL of $1K between years 1-2.

The CLI's aren't as stout or as frequent as before. CLI's after 3 months of obtaining cards are much less frequent now.

That's too bad. I guess the party is staring to wind down. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Ha, I wonder if they shut the door as soon as I got in last July. They graduated my secured card, without me asking or anything, and bumped up the limit to $2,000 from an initial $500 line after a few months. I tried to request a CLI prior to their recent 0% offer and was told it was not enough time of six months from last increase. Now that it's been six months so I asked again but I got the denial as mentioned before and I don't like that I've used an HP from EQ for it(Which is odd because aren't the bimonthly scores coming from EQ anyways?).

On the other forum they say the path of least resistance to >50K with NFCU is applying to 3 cards FAST & FURIOUS mode. 25K*3=75K. But 75K with 3 cards not as sexy as one card for true CB'ers. LOL

That method usually works. The drawback is that one card at $50k (or, for Flagship, at $80k) is a good prybar and three at $25k is pretty much boring.

I want $80K on a single card that reports. I have a fist full of $25K-$50K cards from AMEX, Barclays, Chase, Citi, Discover, NFCU, PenFed, Synchrony and if I wanted more of them it certainly wouldn't be more NFCU cards.

I've specifically avoided all the B list banks (except for Sync) and I don't want any more CU cards either.

I also closed a $50K CapOne Spark recently that was frozen by their fraud dept for years.

They may have.

They sent me an e-mail changing my chapter from San Diego to the one closest to my last known address.

Welcome.

There is a lot of relevant data in Creditpulls.

As a general rule, "easy approval" isn't the best reason to get a credit card.

Most people aren't very proud the next morning after taking home the drunkest person they could find when the bar closed the night before.
