CB For The Win Again

Recommended Posts

Yes this is one of those post where the guy talks about finding CB with a credit score in the dumps feeling hopeless, then vows to start fighting the good fight with dreams of prime ccs with great rewards, a mortgage etc, starts with having success at a Jack Attack then is off to the races from there. So yes that is me too, yesterday marked a very significant day in the long fight, with scores now right on the border of 700 I began to get a itchy trigger finger and decided to pull the trigger on the Amex Delta Gold 60k promo, I immediately received the 14 day notice, then I remembered from everything I had read on CB, Amex uses the same pull if you apply the sameday for a 2nd card. I then appd for the Platinum promo also. And to my surprise what seemed like it had been an eternity, I received a instant approval for a non-subprime card!!! In the midst of me jumping up and down about to be evicted for noise pollution because I was so excited. I then received an email alert from Amex. Clicked the email and it read. Youre Amex Delta Gold Card has been approved!!! At this point Im no longer celebrating because Im astonished. Approved on Delta Gold w/cl of 5k.

Cant say it enough, 0 shot I would have got here without CB. This imo is one of the most important websites on the net anywhere. For those of you reading this and are just starting the journey, my advice is, read, read, read, ignore the trolls, COs with balances are no good, and get your UTL under control. Thx CB

Thank you, it has been a looooong rode. And I thought I would never get another Amex after my CO with them.

Thanks, I believe I came to CB with a 483 years ago, built it up to 620s then took a hit with a 2016 layoff, and now Ive built it back up. I have 1 30day late that should be hitting 24mos old come this Nov. I expect with that aging it should push me across the finish line for 700.

The CO with them was 2016 during my life, I COd the Amex Optima card nonetheless smh. When my credit went into the tank the first time I had the Green card, they then offered me the Optima, I took that had it for 3 yrs then a 2016 layoff caused the CO. My gut told me never to settle because Amex had always been good to me and my gf at the time had the Plat so I aways so the benefits of that card and held that as my goal. I paid Amex back in full for the CO. Then I was added as an AU by a family member a few months ago, once Amex allowed me to be an AU I knew I would have a good shot.

Beautiful!!! Thanks for coming back and posting this update. Next stop: 800. :good:

Thank you. Now that I have some respect in my wallet, can I close the subs? Credit One, Discover Secured, US Bank Secured, FNBO Secured, Overstock Store Card, Walmart Store Card?

Def chuck CreditOne. Can your secureds not graduate? You've no doubt noticed the prevailing anti-Disco sentiment here on CB but it's not shared by me; they've actually been quite good to me & helpful in keeping my scores up. For that and other reasons I'd hold on to them & see about the other secureds graduating.

Walmart schmalmart, I always say (I feel about them the way the rest of CB feels about Disco; I've never set foot in any of their stores.) Personally I'd keep the Overstock since you've already taken the AAOA hit for it and Comenity cards are fairly easy to grow. More than 10K of my available credit is off of my three Comenity cards. If I had it to do over again I probably wouldn't have opened at least two of them but if they're opened anyway you can make them work for you.

Credit One is super sub but they have given me two cl increases in the same amount of time I've had the secureds, all my secureds are over 18mo old, have not graduated yet I'm sick of it.

CreditOne loves to hand out CLI's because they understand that a good chunk of their cardholder base consists of the type of financial ninnies who always max out their credit cards. They get no points, no status as a CB-approved lender for their "generous" CLI's.

What have Disco, US, and FNBO said when you asked them for increases?

This^^^ is a false statement. There are ~6 members who are anti-Disco and everyone knows who they are. They just like to regurgitate their disapproval nonstop.

They have all gave me the same excuse, "we periodically review blah blah blah, my guess is I have little to no activity on them and that's the reason they haven't graduated, I was focused on building relationships with my unsecured cards that I neglected the activity on the secureds.
