I don't post often, but I have been using the information on this forum to improve my credit scores.

According to Capital One's Creditwise, which I believe is a Transunion Vantage Score 3.0, my credit score last month was 637 and this month it is 805.

Thanks to everyone who posts advice on these forums. You're information has been very valuable to me.

For anyone interested, here's what I have done since January, when my score was in the 500's.

1. Got my free credit reports and disputed all inaccurate information.

2. Refinanced my house, which lowered my interest rate by 1.5%, reduced the years left on the mortgage, and got cash out.

3. Used the cash from the refinance to pay off all my credit card debt.

4. Combined my 5 Capital One cards into two cards. I no longer have any cards with annual fees.

5. Got credit limit increases on my two other credit card accounts.

6. Opened a Pen Fed Power Cash RewardsVisa card account and a Costco Visa card.

^^^ that. I have a Vantage score of 620 but a FICO 8 score of 699. and the reverse could just as easily be true. only FICO has its model down. and even then, there seem to be dozens of different models.

but good work. that's more important than any single score.

Well shoot, I did not realize it was a FAKO.

How can I delete this post?

No need to delete. Most(?) Synchrony card accounts give free TU 08 FICO's if you sign up for e-statements. Discover Scorecard website gives you monthly free EX 08 FICO's... no card required. There's a thread around here with a list of free FICO sources.

You message breeze, or Pam, or MarvBear, or ICANHASMUNY - maybe there are others who have the power but those are the first ones that come to mind.

I don't want to start a new thread with this question, so I am hoping someone can answer the question in this thread.

I recently requested a CLI on my Amazon store card (Synchrony). The limit had been $1,300 and I requested $25,000. They approved me for $6,000. Today I received a letter in the mail explaining why I didn't get the amount I requested. The letter said that my credit score is 834 and this was based off information from Transunion. My question is this: is this credit score a FICO or a FAKO?

Thanks for reading.

It's a FICO. The Amazon store card/Synchrony gives you free monthly TU FICO 08 scores, you just have to enroll in your online account for e-statements. I mentioned this above.

Hey Minnesota, nice job on breaking into the 800 club. Hard work that pays off. Regarding Sync Amazon, they are (have been to me) stingy. Apped with them and got a 2400 line (when I already had 25K with Chase and 15K with Citi...go figure). CLI with them recently to 5K; better, but no big deal. Apped with Chase on their Amazon card (a no AF Visa that can be used in places other than Amazon) and got 15K; zeroed Sync and all Amazon spend went to Chase. My advice, keep the 6K line, 0 it out, and app with Chase. Sync is a PITA.

No need. Excellent Job. FWIW in the absence of derogatory info, at high 700's-800's range FICO and FAKO tend to correlate

Interesting that you stated this. I have also noticed, at least for TU, the lessening of the disparity between TU FAKO and my other FICO's as my scores have increased. It may very well be random as this is the first time I have heard someone else mention this.

it's just simple math. decrease the number of variables in the equation and two different equations that have a similar structure will be closer.

but just like anything with FAKOs, it's purely coincidental and can't be relied upon.
