$58/night to park at a Courtyard in Boston

I noticed this after I booked a recreational weekend in Boston for TAD and me in July.

 

We won't have a car, so it doesn't really matter, but good lord.

Beach Street garage in Chinatown is $27 a day. You can take the T from a couple of blocks away.

I assume the rate was posted just above the other sign that reminded you that they are not responsible for anything that happens to your car while it is in their possession.

That is even worse than the resort fees one risks getting tagged with at the casinos...although at least with parking, you have a few (limited) options to avoid that gouging. However, much of the $58 in this instance is, I am sure, the convenience of not having to trudge in crappy weather to a lot of questionable security.

I used Priceline bidding for a 4 star in Manhattan in 2007. Got the InterContinental Barclay for $80.

 

Valet parking was $50 or so.

 

The room service meat lovers breakfast and a bottle of water was $70 or so. No kiss or reach-around included. To this day that breakfast in my mind is still one of the worst fleecings (to be polite for Breeze) I've ever had.

I know of a guy with some tips on how to stay inexpensively in Boston.

 

I booked the Courtyard Marriott Downtown because the rate looked good. I can cancel this up to 3 days prior to the stay, so I'm considering this my backup plan for now.

 

I'm not even sure the location is exactly what we want.

Cool! Never heard the song before but I sure rode on the MTA a lot. IIRC, there was a stop at Filene's basement. I came to love the noisy subways/overheads/trolleys.

That station would've been called Washington back then; in the 80's it was renamed "Downtown Crossing."
