OneMain - Anybody successfully settled then got a them deleted?

Recommended Posts

I have an old account with OneMain (formerly Springleaf) that I settled for less than the full amount. It's still well within SOL.

1) The balance owed still shows an amount, even though they agreed to consider the account PIF and sent me a 1099-C for the cancelled debt. Can they do that?

2) I would like to get it deleted from my reports. Has anybody been in a similar situation? What were your results? My plan is to try the Jack-Attack approach unless someone has a better suggestion.

They are allowed to report "settled less than full" but the balance should report a "0" balance.

Thanks for your reply! I plan to send a Jack-Attack letter to the CRAs to see if I can get complete deletion. If nothing else, I want that balance to show $0.00.

Did you have this when it was Springleaf? I had an old Springleaf account that was CO. It changed to OneMain on my report recently. I disputed it and it ended up being updated to PIF with never late....
