No, I sure didnt. Should I not wait and call today? It would only be a verification or a denial right?

Yes call today.

You were right. I called, and I am glad I did. They were about to shred my app.

She said I can deny you or approve you today. I said great! She immediately asked what job I did, I said I ran a glass shop. Asked for how long, 3 years. Asked income. Then, she said my oldest card was 14 months, and before this nothing since 2003 (old paid off student loan I guess).. anyway, she wanted to know why the gap. I said I never had a need for credit until my son was born 2 years ago, now I want a mortgage. She told me they didnt like that I have no true history. I said I understood and if she needed to deny me I fully understand... But listen, my parents each have the Red Aviator card they use for all purchases, and my father told me Barclan is who I need to be dealing with... Kept rambling.. I said I dont think the travel card is right for me, but the Ring is perfect seeing as how I am establishing responsible credit and will enjoy the exclusive credit chat community this card offers... She is like riiiiiight, "mmhmm yes".. and I rambled on.. I feel as if this tradeline will be a perfect way to start a long relationship between me and Barclans. She pauses for suspense and says "I am extending you an offer today for a $1,500 line, is this something you may want?". I said this sounds perfect!

Dont want to be snobby seeing as how the AMEX computer gave me $10,500, and BBVA's gave me $10,000.. Barclans seems a bit picky, and I have 3 cards opened within 6 months, 6 within 14 months. Ol Citi wont budge from $600, and Crapone wont budge from $500... So.. I feel lucky.

BigPoppa09 - Thank you for the heads up.

Nice!!

But why exactly are you holding onto that Merrick Bank card?

Mine doesn't have any fees, otherwise I would have closed it already.

I closed mine due to the higher limits rule and the stench that it exhumed to potential high-end lenders.

Applied Barclay AA Red Aviator with 50,000 mile bonus. Didn't get instant approval. Fico 702. Have Barclay Jet Blue with $17,000 limit. When should I call reconsideration?

Welcome to CB! :)

Bump for answer to your question.

My app spree has ended with one approval and 1 crash and burn. Approval for NFCU GR Visa - $1000. Very pleased since I was not offered membership initially to apply.

Denial with US Bank HD Visa, haven't received letter yet, was notified via email.

App'd for my first cards in 26 months yesterday. 3/3 Approvals.

Amex Cash Magnet $25K

Chase Freedom Unlimited $22K

BOA Travel $3K

Bank of America comes in with the lowest starting limit I've ever been granted. Previous low was Discover at $4500. Call to SR Underwriter line to no avail. I have a sock drawered Cash rewards at $30K I'll steal some limit from in the mean time.

I was surprised at the Amex limit. I have a BCP at $42.5K that has been bumped only incrementally the last 2 CLI rounds. DW got $24K from Chase on the Freedom Unlimited a few months back, was shooting for more than that since my average limit is significantly higher. Regardless these are my 2 largest starting limits on approvals.

A "backdoor number" is one that gets you past frontline CSR's directly to Credit Analysts / Credit Departments / Account Managers / Account Specialists (different lenders call 'em different things) - these people/departments have decision-making abilities far beyond frontline CSR's; they can take and review requests for reconsideration of denied CC apps or CLI requests, APR reductions, etc. and implement their decisions.

I got some help previously about opening new accounts, but I was curious more about the impact and possible ramifications. I only have 1 credit card in my name, and it only reports on Experian and TransUnion. The rest are AU cards. I have 8 accounts on Experian and TransUnion and AAoA of about 21 years. My Equifax report is a bit thinner. I pulled CCT, and I'm at 777 EX, 782 TU, and 789 EQ. I have been thinking about about a PenFed credit card and an AMEX revolver. I also may be cosigning a small student loan. I'm not certain on this yet, but it's a possibility. I know that this will cause a score hit of some sort (drop in AA), but I'm not sure how severe. I was thinking about forgoing PenFed and just doing AMEX, but I can't make up my mind. Can anyone give me some insight? I would like to avoid permanently damaging my report in some way. I don't know if 2 cards in such a short time is too much. I appreciate any help.

I recently have been working on getting my credit score higher and also want to have $100k in available credit (maybe a dumb thing to do).  In doing so I have gotten about 6 new credit cards in the past 6 months.  All of them have zero balance, about $30000 in available credit, I recently noticed my equifax dropped 16 points.  I assume this is from the inquiries and new accounts?  avg account age is 2yrs 8 months.  Should I close any of the new accounts to increase my credit age?  Or just be patient and wait for the accounts to age and the inquiries to age.

I am looking to buy a car next year, and maybe refinance my mortgage, and really want a 750+ score before I do so

I'm looking for input on what cards to app for. My bk7 is off of my EQ and EX, and should be off TU any day now. I'm trying to accomplish several things with this app spree.
      1. Maximize my rewards on my spending.
      2. Establish/reestablish positive relationships with lenders that may be of benefit me in the future.
      3. Broaden my base of cards so that, once these are aged, getting a new card here or there will have little to no impact on my AAoA. I am planning to nearly double my current number of credit cards(10). This will hurt my scores significantly in the short term, but should make my credit more solid over time.

      Cards I currently have:
      Fidelity Rewards
      Chase Freedom
      Discover IT
      USAA Rewards Amex
      Wells Fargo Cash Back
      NFCU Platinum
      Barclay Rewards
      Penfed Platinum Rewards
      State Department Platinum Rewards
      Quicksilver

My list of cards that I am considering, with purposes in parentheses:
Citi Double Cash (reestablish a relationship with Citi while giving me another 2% option)
      US Bank Cash+ (5% categories)
      Amex BCE (3% at supermarkets)
      BOA Cash Rewards (3% category)
Amazon Prime Rewards Visa (5% at Amazon)
Capital One Savor One (3% on dining and entertainment) (I am already getting 3% on dining with my USAA Rewards Amex, so this one may not be worth my interest)
State Department Cashback Rewards Plus (another 2% card with no redemption hoops, plus cell phone protection, extended warranty, CDW, trip cancellation)
USAA Cashback Rewards Plus Amex (5% cashback on gas)
Chase Freedom Unlimited (Considering this one only for the $150 bonus and to get another Chase card before I go over the 5/24. I really don't see any use for it otherwise. The Freedom Card which I already have is their only card that seems particularly useful to me)
ETA: Looking at the Chase Ink Business Cash (5% categories +$500 bonus) I'm just wondering what potential issues there are with using a business card for personal expenses?

I would appreciate any suggestions of other cards that may be useful, or input on the usefulness of cards I am already considering.
