WOW!!! Target must be making some rounds on the CLI's. After 6yrs of remaining at a lousy $1k limit, I just received a letter it was increased to $1400. lol All my hard work has finally paid off! :yahoo:

Just restarting my journey. The only active accounts I had were an installment loan on my car I bought last summer and a low-limit MasterCard from my CU. In 2018, I've added a Discover IT secured, a gas card and a Kohl's. According to my paper reports, most of the horror will have fallen off by this time next year so I'm going to sit on those until then.

You should be able to dispute those and get them to fall off a bit early. There's a long thread on early obsolete disputes that's worth a read.

Did a product change from Citi AA Platinum (95 AF, and we simply weren't using it often enough) to Citi DoubleCash. Retained 18K CL - will be doing a CLI in a few weeks. CitiDC has nice suite of protection benefits beyond the 2% back (recently got Alliant CU 3% card, which will become our daily driver for many purchases). Also, got Amazon Visa offer of 3% cash back on travel between now and 12/31.

Continue to watch CVs posts (Thank you again CV for providing real use case info...extremely helpful and enlightening!) comparing Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve to help us pick which way we go.

Can PC to anything. So if you have more then one best to consider other cards then the DC

Enroled the PRG in POT for the 10k MRs.

They sent me an email that says my limit is 35k which is more credit than I have on any other revolving account. Kind of funny since they declined to tripple my personal SPG card from 5-15k just a few months ago. Go figure.

About 3 months ago I opened these accounts with FICO 8 798-802:

BMW $28k @ 2.49% with $1000 SUB

Chase Freedom $11500

Citi Double Cash $3500

Discover It $6000

This week I went down the list and got these CLIs with FICO 8 756-760 (auto loan killed my share secured score boost):

Citi $3500 > 5500

Discover $6k > $9k

Macys $4k> $6k

Synchrony Marvel $10k > $25k

Highest limit is tied for $25k with NFCU and Synchrony, and $23k on Amex. Lowest limits $2500 on Merrick Bank (does not offer CLI), and $5500 on Citi.

I think my next goal will be to get the highest limit up. In order to get the highest limit up to $30k-40k should I close Merrick in order to make the average limit look better? At what point does % of income become a concern?

Nice!!

But why exactly are you holding onto that Merrick Bank card?

Hello fellow CBers, I searched but did not find a thread on this matter, yet I think that is an item of interest.

During travel earlier this year, our flight was canceled due to a weather issue. We used a Chase card to book the flight that included trip delay and trip cancellation coverage (I believe our other Chase, Citi and Amex cards have this coverage as well).

The reimbursement process was a painful paper chase. It did take weeks to resolve, but we finally received approval that our claim of nearly $400 was approved. While we have no check in hand, it appears that we will receive a payment. It is the first time we've ever submitted such a claim, and it was a pleasant surprise to have it covered and to get reimbursed.

My lesson learned was: book your travel with a card that has trip cancellation and trip delay coverage, and use your CC for everything possible when you travel so you have ready and defensible records should you need them. It could be well worth your while.
