Good morning,

So I've been up all night looking for as much info as possible on the differences between child support and TANF. Without making it technical, I've come to find that TANF is a Gov't entitlement that is not subject to reporting. Simply put, it should not affect your credit!

Does anyone agree with that?

I have come to the conclusion to dispute directly to the Child support office directly demanding they delete the tradeline and report the actual Child support minus the TANF plus any interest..

My balances would have been thousands lower and paid off years ago. I also wonder would this constitute any suit?

Two separate programs. TANF: temporary assistance to needy families. Its a means tested program. Meaning its for people who are low income with dependents under age 18, some states under 17. Child support comes from a court order. Some welfare agencies handle both programs. However, in some states they can go after the father for both programs.

Trust me, Im owed thousands in child support, even though my daughter is age 28. My only chance is to go after the deadbeat when he collect SS, but he works under the table, Ive heard, so my chances are slim to none.

I believe in some states that if the custodial parent collects TANF because the non-custodial is in arrears or simply not paying on court ordered child support, the amount of TANF paid can be collected from the non-custodial.
