Sunday, unexpectedly, we lost one of our own.  After a sudden diagnosis of liver cancer just two days before, our very own mama Breeze lost her battle with this disease and passed away on Sunday afternoon.   She passed peacefully surrounded by her family.

We know that many of you will be as devastated as we are to learn of this, and we know that you will share in our grief.  We will be in the Feedback forum with you, sharing our memories and our tears.  We encourage you to join us there.

We started on this journey fifteen years ago - breeze, Pam, LKH, and radi8.  Through everything that has transpired over the past fifteen years, we have always remained family - and Mama breeze was an integral part of that family.  We will be posting additional information here, as much as we can while still respecting her desire for privacy and anonymity.  For now, while we process our grief, we will close this notice with Godspeed, Mama.  We miss you so much already.

Denied Joint owner on new DCU account

Recommended Posts

So My Fiancée and myself have decided to get a joint checking account at DCU . I was denied being a joint owner , due to being in Chex systems , apparently Santander says I owe them ~$350.00 . I have requested a copy of my report and received it . so what are my next steps here. I did have a Santander account but I do not remember leaving with a negative balance . DCU says long as I have a letter from Santander showing that it was satisfied they will add me on the joint account.

I can pay it but I'm looking to get the best outcome possible , should I just contact Santander Directly ? or work through the Dispute process at Chex systems.

FYI , since the date on the Santander account is showing 2015. I have since opened accounts at Bank of America , and Navy Federal CU with no issues at all.

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Some banks and credit unions will ignore Chexsystems info if it is over 24 months. Others, will hold you to the fire for the full 5 year reporting period. Unless you have a reporting error you can leverage, I would pay Santander and get the letter. Try negotiating a pay for delete. Most won't delete - but will update it to a paid status.
