That is the same slippery slope that some use in their attempts to justify banning people from social media whose content they don't agree with...it isn't good there and it isn't good in the courtroom...

It's a novel legal theory that a (defunct) manufacturer could sue a (deceased) customer for using the product improperly.  Has that ever worked before?

 

A defense lawyer would argue that their marketing of the product encouraged such use.  The gun industry's position has always been that as long as the bullets fly when and where the shooter intended them to, the gun was working properly, and they bear no liability for the shooter's intent.
