Years ago I had the most delicious portabello sandwich for lunch at Pampas Argentine Grill next to Montgomery Field. Not sure if they're still around but this recipe you posted looks great. I may try this at Thanksgiving.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.  :(

After Nearly Two Decades Serving San Diego, Pampas Argentine Grill Has Shuttered

A friend and I were lunch regulars there for years.  Their creamy potatoes were outstanding, and the chimichurri was so good it wilted my permanent.

I make 5 patties per pound.

That was a snack.

If it had been dinner, you'd see all five there.  😛

Happy St Patrick's Day ☘️

Thanks, March 17 isn't it?

I always thought Corned Beef and Cabbage was a traditional dish served for Easter Sunday dinner in rural Ireland.

For some reason I refuse to buy bay leaves.

Whenever the recipe calls for a bay leaf, I just skip it.

Thanks for listening.  I just needed to talk to someone about this.

I've been using bay leaves when I boil several varieties of legumes. The fragerance smells so good throughout the house.

To me they have no aroma and add no discernible flavor.

I truly think my nose and my palate have dead spots.

I also don't enjoy wine, and I can only differentiate between "drinkable" and "toilet cleaner."

I'm the same way even with colas. I can not tell the difference between Pepsi or Coca Cola. Similarly I don't taste any favor from bay leaves either. Still, I enjoy the smell when they are added to boiling water.

This is why I don't like it when You-Know-Who goes with me to Costco.

These won't be seen again until he asks me when we bought fish-flavored Sno-Cones.

Check the date stamp on the post above.  A couple of days ago I saw the package, unopened, in the freezer as predicted.

Fast forward to today's trip...

The last onions of the season, about 4 pounds, are out of the ground.

I'm making French onion soup, but I'm borrowing a technique for cooking the onions from one recipe, and then inserting them into the framework of another.

I just sliced the onions with the food processor and put them into a slow cooker to soften by cooking 10-12 hours on low overnight as described here.  I'll start the cooker after we have dinner tonight.

Then tomorrow, I'll essentially follow this French onion soup gratinee recipe, but use the slow-cooker onions instead.

The gratinee recipe sounded better to me overall, but I am curious to see how the onions are going to turn out in the slow cooker.
