I love bread.

TAD loves bread too.

To me, bread is just filler...  or something to keep your hands clean while you're eating ham and cheese and mayonnaise.

We've used the bread maker four times so far, so our cost is right at $25 a loaf plus ingredients.

It better be delicious bread.

I love bread, but we eat so little of it at home buying a bread machine would make no sense for us.  I would have to freeze most of it, which then defeats the purpose of being able to make fresh bread.

I just got back from spending 10 days in France, I had baguette withdrawals for 2 days.

Do you French press?

I'm trying to figure out what to buy at Saks with my Amex Platinum credit and came across this.

Free is a pretty low barrier to trying something new.  But this has always looked like a messy process to me.  I hate washing dishes.

French press coffee is awesome! :D

I use a Keurig mainly for convenience, but have 2 difference French presses.

I made this pound cake today:

https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/new-king-arthur-flours-original-pound-cake-recipe

I put a pint of fresh strawberries in the blender with some Splenda and made a quick purée, which was a nice accompaniment along with some whipped cream.

Doesn't your bread machine have a cake setting?

Grilled a pizza on a pizza stone using the Weber Genesis yesterday. I left it on about a minute too long and got the crust a bit too hard. I also found I really need a pizza peel to properly place, remove, and rotate the pizza on the stone. I used this wide spatula that would be great for single serve or pizza made on a hoagie but not for a 15 inch thin crust.

I've considered picking up a smoker, but I know that's another appliance that will get used exactly three times.

I grilled some burgers at the Mud Hut last week.  That's the first time I've used the grill this year.  Last year it didn't get used even once.

Get a decent offset smoker from someplace like Academy and you will find that 1) they will get the job done and 2) you will use it more than once.  With the offset firebox, you can also use the grill that goes over the wood to do things like salmon over your favorite wood and even some things like ribs can be quick-cooked.  You can ALSO use it for the more mundane things like burgers, sausage or even bacon-wrapped shrimp or jalapeno poppers.

One piece of advice if you go the route of Academy or similar place...get it un-assembled and put it together yourself.  It WILL be more secure and you KNOW all of the pieces got put into place properly.  The ones they put together just tend to leave something to be desired when it comes to stability.

A decent unit for individual household use can be had for under $500.00.

Also, if you ever buy firewood for the house, some of the wood sellers will have some of the good smoking woods available.  I used to get a half-cord at a time, with about a quarter of my order being mesquite (and the rest was the oak for use in the fireplace).  Just make sure you have the bark off before you toss a piece or three in while the meat is in the pit.  The bark is great as a starter but has a tendency to leave an acrid taste in the smoke.

Seriously! Sugar high. I'll go back on my diet when they're gone. :)

I used to have that logic then DW started buying more. I finally told her to quit. I told her if she wants cookies and snacks it has to have mint in it that way I won't eat it.
