An assortment of natural casing sausages from the polish grocery store down the street.

Wait - "Polish grocery store" and "Charlotte, NC" just don't go together. "Polish grocery store" goes with cities like "South Bend", "Calumet City", "Whiting", or "Hegewisch".

The only meats they know in Charlotte is chopped up brisket with that vinegar and water they call BBQ sauce.

Indy I hear ya! LOL. Hell I about shyt my pants the other day when I walk into some Whole Check type grocery store and saw Usingers hotdogs.

Anyways the polish shop is ran by two polish ladies. Some stuff they make in house. Majority of it come from suppliers in the northeast and Midwest. A bunch of different can goods brought in from the old country and other parts of Europe.

It's nice having access to something other than shyt from Johnsonville, Hillshire, Oscar Myer, etc.

Our Lowe's Foods now has a SausageWorks. I'm not a huge sausage fan so I don't know if it's any good or not.

I bought a 1.75L bottle of Bombay Dry Gin last night on sale for $12.99. That's about the cheapest price I've ever seen for a decent quality bottle of alcohol that size. For comparison, the 750mL bottle was $16.99.

I wonder how much I'll spend on fresh grapefruits to drink this whole bottle?

The potato leek soup is officially the most flavorless soup offered in the Admirals Club.

Yet another reason why The Centurion Lounge rocks...no flavorless food LOL!

As of Monday night there was no CL at LAX.

Tonight: broccoli frittata with garlic and red pepper flakes... topped with some lime kissed cilantro.

I've become a big fan of frittatas. They are relatively easy to do very well, and accommodate a wide variety of what might be on hand. They also do a good job showcasing a few herbs and some garlic.

Was surprised to hear that...but the issue is being fixed :)

I phrased my response deliberately knowing that this was in the works.

Do you French press?

I'm trying to figure out what to buy at Saks with my Amex Platinum credit and came across this.

Free is a pretty low barrier to trying something new.  But this has always looked like a messy process to me.  I hate washing dishes.

I have a french press and use it mainly on the weekends.  It really isn't any messier than a regular pot, but does take a bit longer (since you have time to heat water and brewing time).  You just put the ground coffee in the bottom, heat water to 195-205 pour enough water in to cover grounds and let bloom for 45 seconds.  After 45 seconds give a stir and then add remaining water.  Let sit for another 3:15.  Depress plunger and enjoy.  Total time commitment around 10 minutes.

For clean up, you still have the carafe and plunger, vs a pot and filter basket on a traditional pot.

If I am honest with myself and everyone else, that's more than I would be motivated to do on a regular basis. Thanks for the description.

I am very much enjoying my new Behmor coffee maker.  I ordered a bag of this

https://www.willoughbyscoffee.com/CLM.html

using a coupon that was inside the coffee maker box, and it's really, really good.

I opened the bag yesterday and thought it smelled pretty ordinary, and it's nowhere nearly as dark as the coffee I generally enjoy.

I adjusted the soak time to four minutes for freshly-roasted coffee, as the instruction guide for the coffee maker recommends, and the coffee is excellent.

I think this'll be as close as I will get to French press coffee at home.

So has anyone tried the Uuni 3 pellet fired pizza oven?  The YouTube videos look pretty slick.

I have one on the way with a 15% discount code at William Sonoma, 16 BA Avios/$, 2 MR/$ and the AMEX extended warranty coverage.

That's the type of cooking equipment I would have purchased ten years ago and used twice before eventually relenting and finding a spot in the garage to store it.

I'm no longer susceptible to purchases like that, but if you'll get lots of use out of it, it looks pretty cool.

I was initially vacillating, but the fairly short 10 minute warmup and some of the youtube videos finally hooked me.  I love good thin wood fired pizzas and this thing gets to 900 degrees.

And it gives me another use for the bread machine.
