Collections account on rental lease

I have a collections for a broken lease. It's in North Carolina and was not entered into "under seal". (As a notary, I'm sure that's what under seal means) The CA is FCO.

The statute of limitations is 3 years in NC for Express or implied contract, not under seal.

My calculations have this debt at 5 years and 4 months old. I've done a debt validation on it because the company that owned the property I rented changed names and went out of business. The CA came back with my entire rental agreement and the move out checklist.

So I sent a pay for delete at 25% of the debt value. They countered with 50% and report as settled as long as it's paid by 8/31/17. I never acknowledged the debt. It has been so long that I don't remember the next step in this process.

HELP!
