Just had the most odd thing happen. I have been in Chapter 13 for almost two years which I had to file in 2015 to prevent Foreclosure. Tried for a modification with the court and attorney's permission last summer and was declined. Was also declined in 2015 before the filing.

 

Today, my attorney contacts me out of the blue and says Citi has sent them a modification offer for me.

 

They went back and looked at the documentation I provided last summer and said that I was actually NOW approved for a supplemental modification even though I had previously been told I did not qualify for HAMP or supplemental.

 

Trial payments to start in June.

 

Presumably they are no longer screwing people after trial plans? Does anyone have any insight? I have read so many horror stories about that.

 

Any commentary would be great.

Same thing happened to me, minus the BK. I had given up on a modification but then I received an approval letter. My modification was just finalized last month...after making 3 trial payments (December, January & February) only "negative" I experienced was the increased balanced (past due amount added to the principle), which brought my score down for a second but then they went up once my status changed from delinquent to current.

 

I'm now current and really wish I could find a way to get ride of those 120+ day late payments.
