Recommended Posts

  • Avocado toast
  • Crippling student loan debt :(

I would say crippling student loan debt because you picked a major that has no practical real world application and poor job prospects (I am staring at you philosophy majors...)

It can be crippling even with a practical major. I'm an accountant so the job prospects are good, just sucks that for the first ten years of employment a good chunk of my income goes toward loans. I could get payments lowered but then I'd end up paying more overall so I just suck it up.

Many get a degree in a field over run with people holding the same degree.

Here's looking at you peeps with run of the mill Business Admin degrees.

Yeah and I agree with the philosophy degrees, or as I like to say.....a degree in German polka history.

I remember years ago there was a college in OR that offered a degree in Star Trek. Another in WA actually offered a degree in the history of basket weaving. I guess that one could come in handy at your nearest wicker furniture store.

This thread can be summed up in one phrase.

"People doing dumb %$#& with money they don't have"

As far as the redivulous college degrees that aren't even worth toilet paper. Someone somewhere saw a value in this as marketable. The sheep flocked

I'm going to add the other side to this...

Choosing a major that allows your income to grow so fast that you have zero tax benefit on the absurd amounts of interest you pay in student loan payments.

But I'll take this literal first world problem over having to admit to being a philosophy major. :)

Prom

This is an ungodly overwhelming cost these days, I swear some people spend more on their high school prom than a wedding I guess they figure it's their only chance before they get knocked up by some thug who bails on them so they are 23 in a trailer park with no teeth and failed dreams

Paparazzi $5 jewelry.

I had to Google it, when I saw the DW of a coworker selling it on FB.

Another MLM opportunity for the desperate.
