The Master Why We Complain About Discover Thread

Recommended Posts

I didn't rip Discovery of for anything and I say they suk Richard.

And not only the credit card side, but also their banking side. Biggest bunch of tools I've ever met.

The OP has a lot of nerve bashing Discover after he ripped them off for $20k.

Untrue.

Take the hint and stop stalking me here.

I'm probably about 7-8 months out from a mortgage app and should probably be gardening, but I decided to pull the trigger on Discover to see if I would be approved. Instant approval of $8500!!! :D Many say that Discover is conservative, but I believe it is a YMMV situation. It looks like that limit is just above the average for my 3 highest limits (NFCU and NavChek both at $10K and Barclays at $4500).

Did I mention that I burned Discover for more than $10K with a chargeoff 7 years ago? Feeling lucky.

Is that $20K? No.

So untrue.

And irrelevant.

And Breeze already told you to start your own thread.

So take the hints you've been given and stop stalking me in my threads.

Puddy Kat, the thing is that Mendy is absolutely right -- Discovery does suk.

Discovery suks Richard.

Discovery suks more than Hoover.

I don't think that I have ever been so disappointed as when I got up this morning and logged in and immediately got hit with multiple reported posts that are remarkably similar. We are not going to turn this forum into MSN money board, or MyFico forums, or any other forum. It's going to stay like it is. This board was designed to help people with credit issues, not to entertain personality conflicts. Our board software can handle that if you choose to use it.

Over the years, we have made a number of accommodations to add various subforums, and no great appreciation has been shown to admin for the creation of such. These tend to abandon those that need the most help and concentrate on a cliquish atmosphere. Admittedly people can learn a lot from these subforums but don't abandon those that need the help the most.

Instead of personality conflicts, can we not concentrate on providing help to those in need regardless of our personal need for aggrandizement? Can't we help just for the sake of passing something along that we learned that help us?

All of us in admin see everything that's posted here, and what I saw this morning made me want to just cry.

I will reopen this thread.

wow.

perhaps you should dig deeper and find out if I burnt Discovery in my BK. I'm sure I've had cross words with mods over the years too; I hope you feel better feeling superior to us.

In my world reasonable people can disagree on the merits of things as minor as the quality of a credit card issuer.

Spot on, Hege.

There are scores of other things going on in the world that are worth having a cow over. That some people like / dislike a certain issuer is definitely not one of them.

Puddy Kat, why not just start your "Master Thread of Why Discovery is Fantastic"? That's the way to compete in the marketplace of ideas.

Time to add Italy to the list.

Multiple stops (resaurants, kiosks, taxis, etc.) inside the Turin/Collegno area with zero acceptance. As well as the airports in both Turin and Rome.

My local cleaners (Dallas/Fort Worth area) accepts Amex, but not Discover. Sorry for the grainy pic.
