Alan Hale (Gilligan's skipper) came out and introduced himself when we were eating at a restaurant he owned. Jewel, a neighbor, some years back. Gene Roddenberry, who was a friend of a friend. My business partner was always being mistaken for Weird Al. He was the spitting image.

I met the daughter to the Ragu spaghetti sauce fortune. I went to her wedding.

I was supposed to meet Lou Gramm once, but never did.

I used to work with Eddie Money's cousin.

I know someone who knows Donald Trump. She attended the inaugural ball and got me some limited edition stuff from the inauguration.

Wait, I can't believe I forgot this one. I met Todd Starnes. I got his autograph and had my picture taken with him. Not really sure he's a celebrity though.......more like a public figure.

I've met/shook hands with every nominee/President since I was about...13 or so. Family values thing.
Went for a ride with Paul Newman once in a Ferrarri at the brickyard, Jeff Gordon, Petty family etc., Lifestyle thing.

No one really knocks me out like Astronauts and MOH/ and Veterans though. Some of my favorite memories are of ones are the Tuskegee people though. Incredibly special people.
What's his face when they were filming that pirate movie in Oahu. The film crew camped out at the same property.

I get seriously star struck at different baseball hats with emblems from various conflicts. It's amazing some of those guys are still walking or wheeling around. I feel like a baby flea on the elephant in their presence.

Beyond people, horses, big big big racing horses give me the shivers too. I'm in a nice area to meet them.

Nah. Not been any professional billiards tournament around here to attend. I used to follow the ladies pros on TV - Alison Fisher, Karen Corr, Jeannette Lee etc but again not been any tournaments around here. Which is interesting as Jeannette Lee lived here and married a local until a few years ago.

Junior Seau. He and Gavin Degraw are at the top of my "nicest celebrities" list. Both took the time to actually talk to me/us.

I played Corr once in a regional tournament outside of Philly. They need to bring more pro tournaments to Tampa, but there are a decent tour and a couple of top amateur tournaments there.

I had dinner at a pre speaking engagement dinner reception for Isaac Asimov. I was roughly 15 years old and invited to attend by the president of the college where Asimov was speaking. My buddy the pres had them switch the seating place cards placing me directly across from Asimov and himself at a side table. Fred Rodgers and his wife were at the table as well.

I was a big fan of the Foundation books at that time, but I don't think I contributed much to the conversation. I remember Asimov talking about paying his daughter's rent in Manhattan and commenting on how expensive it was. About 2k a month for some modest digs. This would have been in the early 80s.

I think I was disappointed that Asimov didn't spend the dinner talking about the themes of his writing. I remember Mr. Rodgers spending a good deal of time asking me about myself and my interests. That guy had an incredibly generous mannor. I ran into him 5-10 years later while leaving the local ballet's office. He was shooting an entrance into the ballet scene that held up my departure and we ended up standing together for a minute while the shot was wrapped up. I told him that we had had dinner together and shook his hand. He asked the same sort of questions about how I was and what I did, and invited me to stop by his office to visit anytime.

I never did.

DGF used to do "featured extra" work when we lived in L.A.. Martin Sheen was her most notable encounter. She said that while most of the leads spent their off-camera time in their trailers, Sheen would hang out and talk with the cast with an attitude of "we're all just a bunch of actors working together to make a movie".

Her favorite encounter was working with Matthew McGrory (the giant in "Big Fish", "House of a 1,000 Corpses", HBO's "Carnivàle"). She spent a month working on a film with him, and says he was the nicest person she's ever met.

She also spent a half hour with Lakers coach Phil Jackson in a hotel business center in Portland, while they both struggled with the hotel's crappy network setup so they could get documents printed. She said that, true to his reputation, he was totally zen about the whole thing.
