App'd for this card a couple days ago, on account of the free $70 Amazon gift card. Declined. Hmmph, decided to look up and call a backdoor number for recon. Chase says it was declined because of my Ch. 7 BK that is almost 7 years old.

Waited on hold, got asked a couple questions, another hold, and then.... APPROVED $5K CL! I'm back in with Chase!!!

Merry Christmas to me!

Interesting. I just logged on here to ask about this exact card. I was shopping on Amazon last night and right before checkout I read the offer (mine was only 50$ though) so I said what the heck. Zero anual fee, so I went for it. With the help of this forum my credit has steadily climbed and now hovers in the 750-765 range. I already have the Amazon store card which is Sync bank, but I always pay it off every month. It's more of an easy checkout thing for me than a financing option. So I didn't even see the Bank issuer of the Amazon rewards card offer. I got approved instantly for 8k. I check my Chase checking balance every morning when I wake up. To my surprise I saw "credit card" under my checking account balance on the main mobile screen. It freaked me as I was half asleep. Then I saw Amazon rewards card. Hmmm.

So Chase gives me an 8k limit, but declined my Slate and Freedom apps? It's been about a year and a half since I applied, but every other app I filled out with other cards, personal loans, mortgages, and car loans right before and right after that have been approved. I actually called the reconsideration line when I was denied and pointed out I had (at the time) a 730 score. I thought I was in the 5/24 gang. But in the last 2 years, I have opened 3 personal loans (paid off two of them) and probably 7 credit cards (zero balance on all of them still) and bought two houses, and 1 car. So I have no idea how Chase would approve me now? Had I known the Amazon Rewards card was a Chase product, I wouldn't have applied, because I would assume I'd be denied.

So just today, I get on creditkarma and see the Chase Slate listed and my odds were rated POOR for approval. So if you were me, would you apply for the Slate anyway? At this point it's just a personal thing to get a Chase CC since they denied me in the past. I don't plan on buying anything in the next year or two,so I really don't have anything to loose.

Sorry, but there are far better Chase cards in their offerings to "chase". If you're going to do an Amazon card, get the Sync Amazon Store cd w/ 5% immediate card rebate on purchases. We just took advantage of their Sony holiday offer and scored a 15% rebate on a 65" 4k/HDR TV (XBR65X930D).

is chase amazon subject to 5/24?

i have no intent on apping. just curious.

Congrats!

Also wondering if 5/24 matters. I have the Amazon store card from Sync, but I'd really like to have the Chase version. Assuming I can never convert since they're two different products.

To my knowledge the Amazon Visa is not under 5/24. No, they cannot be product changed to one another.

Well I went ahead and applied for the Slate. I got the automatic "we need to verify some information we'll get back with you" reply. Just like last time when they denied me. I'll be expecting a letter in the mail soon. I'm calling them this time. I've had a Chase chrcking account for 15 years I'm guessing. I paid off a home equity loan about 6 years early with bigger always on time payments last year, and just this year I have pushed almost 300k in deposits thru my checking account. Denied ? Whatever!

The slate is good for 0% BT fees, but are notorious for their very low limits, thus making BT's hard to do without hurting utilization on that account.

I have plenty of Zero interest promotional cards. i just wanted a Chase since they are the only ones that have denied me. I just obtained a mortgage with a local bank and they are practically begging me to move my checking account to them. They offer all the things Chase does as far as direct deposit, bill pay, quick pay etc.. that has kept me there so long. At this point Chase has my business for the simple fact that changing my direct deposit and my automatic bill pay would be such a hassle to set up again. In the past, Chase never charged me for cashiers checks. I only get 3 or 4 a year. Now they charge me. My local bank said they would give them to me for free. I'll see what happens when I get my denial letter in the mail and I call them. The thing about Chase is, they are so big, my 300K a year is no big deal for them, so for me to "threaten" to leave them is no threat at all.
