UPDATE:

OMG success (at least partially). I just called the 800-576-8942 for a status update. Without asking, I was told that my income HAD been verified, but that they could not approve me for the full requested amount of 100K (no big surprise there, but I was going for the gold, lol). He said they HAD however approved me for a CLI from my current 34.5K to a new limit of 56.2K. So apparently they DO counter. He also stated it would take a few days to see the increase online on my account.

Ok, I'll take it :) :)

UPDATE #2: A different woman called me late yesterday afternoon from Amex. She stated she was "processing" my CLI request. She stated that because my CLI was income approved to an amount over 50K, she was going to have to run it by a supervisor. She said they would want to know why I wanted this increase, as my highest monthly utilization to date was $1400. I told her that I am very careful with my utilization and that I wish to ensure that if I want to use it more, I am staying at a very low utilization. I also told her that I recently added my husband as an AU, so I want to ensure that with his added use (I actually have no idea if he'll use it or not, lol) I have a larger "buffer". She said that she would submit it to her supervisor for the full 56.2K. I told her that if the 56.2 was rejected, I'd be happy with the 50K she (personally) could approve. She said it would take 24-48 hours. I logged in later on last night to my account to see my CL has increased to 50K. Unsure if this is the "final" CL or if it's 50K, pending supervisor approval to 56.2K. Either way, I'm ok with this :)

Interesting tidbit here, which is certainly new info for me. Thanks for posting this detail.

Recap of Recent Activities and Update:

[Note that it has now been five months since I requested a CLI, and I'm still working on it. I have been trying to accomplish this since before Thanksgiving of last year.]

  • No callback from a manager as promised on February 27.

  • On 3/9 I was promised an update if I'd call in after March 13.

  • When I called in on March 20 there was no update. I was promised a phone call from a manager, which in over a month has not come.

  • I just called the Platinum line and asked for their help getting a supervisor live, which they did.

  • My 2/10 request is now over 60 days old, so no matter how many promises of a call back from a manager went unfulfilled, the only option was to submit a new CLI request, which I did.

  • The supervisor informed me that they need a 4506-T and gave me the URL and a reference number.

Looks like tomorrow is 15 days since the CLI request. I just logged in and checked, and the limit on this card is unchanged.

Seems I've hit my limit with AMEX.

Today is six months from my previous CLI. Currently my BCE is at $49,500 with another $500 revolver that I only keep open for D*. Requested $70,000 and was immediately countered with an increase from 49,500 to ... 49,900.

Is there any way to manually get them to consider a higher credit line? I'd happily submit the docs.

I'm officially past the 15-day window. I don't plan to call for a status until after I get back to the US on May 24.

As a reminder, this CLI request process, which has resulted in multiple unsuccessful 4506-T submissions, began on 11/19/16.

This quest for a higher limit on my EveryDay card is about to reach six months in duration without resolution either way.

Similar to krielly66 above. Asked for a 3x CLI to > 50k. Got a request for 4506-t, submitted it. Received a call from someone in their UW dept who tated that their approval limit was 50k. Anything above would need to get kicked up to a manager level. Wanted to know reason for CLI request given very low card utilization over the last several months (approx 1k in charges YTD). Replied quite honestly that it was for bragging rights and i'd be perfectly happy with the 50k approval. Done deal.

Looks like $82k is my internal limit. Just tried a CLI to take a $17k card to $20k and got the 4506-T request.

I should have known, actually, when assigned limit on newest card was only $5k.

Now have to wait a few weeks for them to process the 4506-T before happing the new Blue biz card. Or will they just scavenge from another card to approve the new one?

I'm at 4506-T CLI's on the personal side.

I have obtained two Biz revolvers without any 4506-T submissions.

Thanks! That's nice to know.

On a related note, if one is at max with five revolvers and cancels one, how long before they can apply for a fifth again without the system thinking they still have five and rejecting the app?

I have a gold card that gets alot of use, i just applied and got a blue card, its a 6k limit, You think i should try and call and offer to send my tax returns to get a higher limit?

Wait until the card is 61 days old, then ask for a 3x CLI online, and then another one 180 days later.

Did a CLI and got 4056-T request. I submitted it using my gross income, but looking at my 1040 it shows my AGI most prominently.

When you all submit your CLIs to AMEX do you list your AGI or full gross income? We max out both our 401ks and have some pre-tax benefit deductions so our AGI as shown on 4056-T is about ~36k less then gross income.

Do they factor in pre-tax deductions to get to AGI in underwriting? Or should i skip this one and just resubmit with my AGI number later?
