Master Amex 4506-T (Tax Return Verification) for CLI Thread

Recommended Posts

I asked for 3x to $45,000 on this card.

In addition to the current $15,000 on this one, I have $49,500, $17,500 and $15,000 on other revolvers, plus a Platinum charge card with an untested NPSL capacity and a $35,000 POT line.

I'd like to get one of these revolvers to $100,000.

I really wonder why they let me go to 50k without the 4506-T. It might be that my company publishes my salary info to TheWorkNumber and they pulled that instead of asking.

Would be fun to get it to 100k next. :) Should I do it in stages (75, 100) or just go for 100?

Still waiting on the request...

but decided to try an increase on the 50k card since it hit the six month mark weeks ago. 75k triggered 4506. Waited a day. 60k triggered 4506. Waited a day.

Just tried again and approved instantly for 55k. I'll take it, but hopefully the current request at least yields SOMETHING...

11/19/16: Requested 3x CLI on my EveryDay Card. Received the online 4506-T form. The form wouldn't load in Safari on my iMac, so I'll wait for it in the mail.

11/25/16: Received the 4506-T form in the mail.

11/27/16: The letter I received does not contain the mailing address to return the completed form, however it does contain a URL to submit the form electronically. I went to the URL, provided the reference number and a couple of account details. This time there was no COMPUTER GLITCH.

Big Bear's screenshots capture the process. I also received the 15-30 day message, which is normal.

12/05/17: No change to my CL. It's still early, but I am checking daily.

12/27/17: Today is the 30th day. My credit limit is unchanged. Perhaps there's an FOAD letter addressed to me in their outgoing mail today.

Guessing no update in the last week?

Still no movement for me, and no information regarding a decision (somewhat as expected).

No update.

If there is no CLI and no letter in my mailbox by the end of next week, I'll place the first worthless call to the CLI department and post an update.

No FOAD letter in the mail when I got back home today from our New Year's trip...

They will not send a FOAD letter if you are in Amex CLI_DEPT versus UW_Department versus Customer_Service hell (the 8th circle of hell BTW).

And yes, this is a violation of REG B IMHO.

After not receiving one after the previous 2016 request, and your debacle, I'm certainly not holding my breath.

I called the number on the back of my card. The rep that answered had to transfer me to a CLI specialist. After being put on hold and hearing "Please wait" about 20 times I was greeted by an automated system that only provides the status of an increase request. I bit and pressed 1. No record of my CLI request.

I hit 0 and was transferred to another rep. She also had to transfer me to the CLI department, but she was nice enough to make sure I had their phone number (800-576-8942) and their business hours (M-F, 8 a.m. - midnight; Sat, 10-6 Eastern).

The rep in the CLI department saw my request but they had no record of receiving my 4506-T. I read him the message on the screenshot I captured when I submitted the required info on 11/27/16 and he had no explanation.

Screen%20Shot%202016-11-27%20at%208.48.5

He asked me to resubmit the form by fax. Since I don't have a fax machine we agreed that I should resubmit the form electronically and then call back in two days to confirm receipt.

Another complete disaster. I'm resubmitting now.

I no longer had the letter they mailed to me, so I couldn't immediately use their URL to resubmit the information, since I needed a reference number from the letter.

I called back to the CLI department and I let a second agent look at the history again, and he said that the last info on record as being received from me was from September 2015. He gave me the reference number, and I thanked him and hung up.

I went to the URL and entered the required reference number, last five digits of my account number and my zip code, and I got this:

So after reading your situation CV, I decided to give that number a call as well since I haven't heard anything either. In my case, the electronic process went without a hitch, or so I thought anyway. I call the number and the automated system said they couldn't find a request in their system. I dialed 0 and went to an operator. I explained the situation and she forwarded me to the CLI department. CLI dept rep said they see my request but it was rejected because I didn't fill out the form correctly. She said I didn't "sign" the box even though I actually did do it and the system let it go through. She said that on her end she could see that the box wasn't digitally signed and that I had to redo it.

What's interesting is that the signature box is a required field so it wouldn't have let me submit without actually filling it in. My guess is that there's an issue with that signing system. I'm going to try again.

Thanks for the update. This process is a complete disaster and desperately needs to be fixed.

I'm going to submit another CLI request and see how that goes.

Please keep us apprised as you move forward.

01/08/16: Since none of the answers I'm getting from systems or humans at American Express match the electronic confirmation that I received after submitting my 4506-T form, and because their system cannot process a valid confirmation number for my request, I just launched another CLI request for the same amount. I was asked to submit another 4506-T form, which I did.

The second round of waiting begins now.

Blah. My recent piddly 5k increase on the other card reset my counter so I just got the instant 7-10 day message when trying to trigger the form. I guess the wait continues.

Good luck this time around, cv.

An update. So I tried again and made sure everything was properly filled out. I waited 2 days and then called back to verify that they got the form and that it was properly filled out. This time they said they couldn't find the second attempt. The lady was super nice and suggested that we create a brand new request from scratch and that SHE would initiate the request and I would get an email with the link and reference number to use. So we did that. I got the email, went to the link and put in the reference, filled everything out and submitted.

Checked my account today and I got the full amount I requested!
