I love my Amex products. So, no.

That's just stupid. One store out of the god only knows how many I go to doesn't take Amex and I would dump Amex?

So what if I go to another that doesn't take Visa? Do I dump Visa?

Gonna have no cards left in a week.

 

I would use another card. Just like the Vietnamese restaurant I went to yesterday. No Amex. Used my DC instead. Very tasty food there, so not kicking the business to the curb either.

Seems more and more people are wanting to pay with AmEx at my work.

 

One of the stores has a large-scale sign by the register says "We are sorry we NO LONGER TAKE AMERICAN EXPRESS."

 

I lost a third customer, portending to have no other way to pay.

 

Makes me remember how Visa is Everywhere You Want To Be.

 

I had to educate or at least mention to my management that signs don't work.. it's a small problem, but I have to have about 10 people a day whip out another card. Some try the "That's the only way I can pay" game.... Thick wallet full of cards and cash. : rolleyes: It all depends on the customer... I can happily put your candy bar back, enjoy the coffee you already started drinking, sir... (No, I don't say this.) And our other locations don't have "only College kids" as customers. Refreshing on my "nasty customer" handling skill.

I have had a NUMBER of people not be able to discern that thing wasn't real. Even I had to read up on just how close it was.

 

The seconds hand even "slid" like a real one.. I once saw a pic of the now-gone one and one of the $8,000 ones side by side and it was real close. There are also small face and large face Submariners.

 

Now. What about Trilby hats? The Walter White hat with the bow was the Pork Pie, and my remaining hat is bot a "Fedora.." It does have a feather in it. I had a small collection. It went away with the previous Volvo. So........... The Avengers...

Pretty much a given that anyone with an Amex also has a MC/Visa. I shop at Costco. I still have my Amex. It's also better for large ticket purchases.

In order of most common used, recently:

 

1. Visa

2. Mastercard

3. DISCO (I see more Discos this week)

4. AmEx (Fair number of go-tos as Card 1, again this week.)

 

Every customer that attempted AmEx had another car to use. The isolated two customers claiming otherwise were likely get-overs. Who also drank half the coffee, and ate the candy bar on the way to check out. I have to suspect that was planned... "Oh, I only have an AmEx." Yes, ok. Enjoy the coffee and candy, get-over.. The second was similar. So. Out of probably thousands of customers since then, every other of the couple dozen plus AmEx users.. had another card. Cool.

 

Nobody else asked WHY we don't take AmEx, either, so. It's the difference in the clientelle of the stores. Oh well. I'm in a better one now.
