I've made exactly three purchases with this card in recent history:

10/12: Major national retailer's web site ($9)

10/13: Regional chain grocery store ($30)

10/19: Name-brand gas station ($17)

The first one is on the prior statement and the last two are on the current one. The account has been PIF since 10/21, and yet:

Screen%20Shot%202016-11-03%20at%208.58.3

The authorization from the gas station is the most likely culprit, but it's been 15 days...

That's your punishment for using a subprime rewards card at places where you could be earning bonus rewards (gas & groceries)...

I believe you call Plenti a "worthless" as well as a "steaming bowl full of turds". Can't understand why you would even bother. The whole thing (Macy's, Plenti) is subprime.

That being said I would concur that the gas station is the likely culprit. I am guess that they don't show pending transactions as some other issuers do. Best bet is to call/chat if it bothers you that much...or just throw it back in the sockdrawer where it belongs and forget about it.

Discovery is also a steaming bowlful, but I still get an outsized dose of delight from their $2 a month.

On this one I'm willing to put 9 low-dollar transactions to earn $60 toward TD's AT&T bill.

Doesn't mean I won't complain along the way. :P

The $200 hold is still there.

CV,

So which CC company DO you like?

It varies based on what type of benefits and rewards I need in the next 6-12 months. Except Barclaycard. They suck no matter what.

Wow, if you singled them out over NFCU, they must be bad.

*Note to self, remember this down the road.

I don't have any cards of the Navylicious variety, and the 10-day weather forecast shows 0% chance of that changing.

Found this on creditcards dot com:

  • The card networks (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express) can set outside limits on how long a hold can last. For instance, a Visa hold can't exceed 30 days. An American Express hold can't last more than seven days for most of its cards, and no more than 15 days for its Bluebird and Serve products, according to a company spokeswoman.

Don't know if that applies to co-branded cards.

The hold dropped overnight, 23-24 days after I bought a half tank of gas for my rented Mitsubishi Lancer.

  • 2 weeks later...

I made a ~$10 gas purchase with this card on 11/20, and I've since paid the card to $0.

The $100 hold is still there, which isn't at all remarkable after only three days, but let's see how long it takes to drop this time...

Still there.

Have had a hold for 20 or so days, not sure what for since the amount doesn't seem to match purchase history, imagine it's a partial hold from an in store return...with mid 5 digit CL on limited use card doesn't much matter, annoying nonetheless.

Agreed. Annoying!

I have a physical sorting system with my cards, and I will not move a card to the PIF+inactive stack if there is anything still pending.
