I inadvertently read the title of this thread to be:

"Master List of 'Using My Discovery Card Intentionally'."

Silly me.

Though there was this one time I had intentionally used my Discovery card to "push" the "release mechanism" that connected an old monitor to its stand. I didn't have a screwdriver close by, and it just so happened to be the only card in my wallet that I didn't care about damaging.

*shrug*

I once had to replace my Capital One Quicksilver after wearing out one of the edges during an interior painting project (credit cards are perfect for sealing the edges of masking tape when you're painting a stripe on a wall).

I also had to order a new Wells Fargo Visa one time because I broke the one I had scraping ice from the windshield of a rental car.

Here's the Konrad synopsis:

Don't even fuking think of using your Discover card outside of the United States.

If you do, you're and idi0t and deserve all the accompanying issues that come from your poor decision.

Nice to see that you guys are so obsessed with Discover!

They doth protest too much, methinks.

Not being able to use the card is a big deal.

I've used it to buy flowers and pay for street parking in Toronto - that's it.

I get plenty of flowers without paying for it.

Apparently Discovery doesn't see any of their customers splitting their travel the way we will be splitting ours.

We are starting and ending our trip in Paris, but I couldn't set up the travel notifications to correspond 100% with where we will be on which days.

Discovery will only allow you to specify a maximum of five country/travel date combos. For our trip, we will have six country/travel date combos, so I had to improvise.

Mini trip report:

We covered a lot of ground in 12 days. All of our lodging was prepaid before we left the US (first seven nights were part of a tour package, and the last four nights were in a great Airbnb rental in central Paris, just a block and a half from The Louvre).

My Discovery card was rebuffed everywhere it presented. I did notice a JCB sign in a store window in a touristy district somewhere in Germany (I think it was in Koblenz), but we didn't need any Post-It® NotesTM for our Rhine River Cruise.

We even had an impossible time in the most touristy of locations.

Two examples...

The Eiffel Tower will accept checks , but not Discovery:
