To Recon or Not?

I just app'd the Chase Freedom. I have a Freedom Unlimited and CSR. I'm looking to get another credit line with Chase to move the CL to my Freedom Unlimited and the CSR. After app'ing the Freedom. I received the website response that they need to further review. If I am granted a CL I will receive the card in 7-10 days. Should I recon ? or just wait and see what happens?

I believe it depends on your credit profile and not everyone wants a new account just to achieve a CLI.. Heck, it's just a HP. Why not try for an increase first. If that doesn't work, then apply for a new card. It worked for me anyway.

Asked for $8k, went to review and showed up online 2(?) days later.

 

$4k -> $12k... this was 1 year ago.

 

They HP'd TU and EX, but I didn't care

I agree. The "new card" advice made more sense in the past than it does now.

I'm only at 2/24, So the new card to me for the HP made sense. I'll give a call to the application status line first and see what it says then the Recon line to follow up.

i have a chase freedom for 2 years old and chase slate for 14 months old.

 

i applyed for chase freedom unlimited and for chase aarp i got the same denial reason: "too many requests for credit or opened with us"

 

i called customer support, and they said that's nothing they can do. i told them that all the inquiries are 14+ months old, and i have very good history, good credit score... but nothing.. there is nothing they can do at the custumer support line.

 

i tried to find the recon number for those 2 CC, but i was not lucky.

 

whats the recon no, please?

 

i got a denied letter with a ref. no from Equifax, but no credit score. few days later my oldest CC from chase got an Auto Limit Increase of 2k $. also in the same day i applied for another 2 CC and they pulled TU report.

 

should i try a recon ? what do i have to loose ?

update: called 888-270-2127, too many cc opened in last 2 years,( but only 6 HP older than 1 year less than 2yrs) credit score 749 EQ.
