I've always hoped that one of the major contributing members on CB was also actually TPG. Alas.

His only "secret" is to get banks to pay him to write blather about their cards. But as much as he loves Chase - and shamelessly plugged the elusive United Business Saver Award to Europe in that article - he had a recent scathing blog post about United. Given that Chase and UA are such pals, I was mildly surprised he would take that tone.

Bankrate owns his blog. He "sold out" several years ago.

I'll pass on the black card... If Amex was as accepted as visa/mc, then they might get some business!

Amex is accepted by almost every merchant I do business with.

same here. I guess some people only shop at sam's club.

The only place I can think of that doesn't take Amex is where DW gets her hair done.

Other than that, it has been years since it has been an issue for us.

Secrets? I mean, it's not rocket science, although most consumers won't be bothered to do research.

I found his whole 5/24 story kind of strange, considering I could have sworn he posted about unboxing the card weeks ago even though he supposedly "just got approved" more recently.

Until I came to this site I was under the impression that having more than a few CC's was "bad".... and I consider myself smarter than the average bear so to speak.

Go tell someone not in the know you have 10, 20 or 30 CC's and they will look at you like you have 2 heads... and will think your score sucks, and youre irresponsible as hell... but that couldnt be further from the truth.

Answer this, how much of the general population thinks you can have 30 CC's and a great FICO?

so true. I don't talk much about my cards IRL other than to a few people. Mostly because I hate having to explain the truth that a lot of cards does not mean what they think it means.

just don't ask me how many cards I have open.

My thing is so what if you have 30 cards or even 1 card with $20k limit.

My thing is what is someone income to obtain such cards or cl?

I don't see someone with $25k income getting 30 cc...

I'm not posting this in a negative manner... I'm just trying to get a better idea of what people's income is compared to tl/cl they are getting.

You could have a 850 credit score but only $25k income. This is why I feel there needs to be a range of income also on the credit pulls because that is going to be a factor in getting approved as well.

why do you feel that way?

High income =\= Willingness nor ability to repay.

especially paying subcontractors in AC.

The reason I say or feel that way is because income has alot to do with what credit you get. Your not going to get multiple high limit cc's on $25k income since you wouldn't be able to pay them off if you charged them up.

Now I understand that isn't the goal... Have $100-150k in cl and charge them all up BUT to get approved for such limits you would need the income to back such limits UNLESS you are not telling the truth of your income just to obtain the tl's. Which we all know you don't want to do.

Sure they do. But I don't remember ever filling out for a credit card that asks for how much assets you have instead of annual income.

Just because I own a collector car free and clear worth $50,000 doesn't mean anything to a credit card company that is going to extend you a $10k cl. They want to know your annual income. Because again I haven't seen a cc app that asks for assets... Or maybe I haven't been special enough to apply for one that does lol
