I needed the Slate to transfer a balance I couldn't handle all at once. Now it is paid off and I'm not sure what to do with it. I want it gone so if I need to use it again I'll be eligible as soon as possible. Is it worth just closing or am I better off converting it to another card and if so what? We have one Freedom we don't even spend enough to max the 5%s on, and I have a Sapphire preferred we're working to meet the sign up bonus and after that I wanted my husband to try his luck with the reserve. It's hard to think of a card worth having without going for the sign up bonus.

Thank you

The thing about Freedom Unlimited is it really helpful over the Citibank DC? I mean I guess if I'm just after UR miles, but I'm really more of a cash back type, a relative is getting married so I'm attempting to learn more about UR for this particular calendar year, but the Sapphire Reserve and Preferred should do it.

The argument in favor of getting rid pf Slate is to be eligible again in a year or two in case a big purchase is needed that our savings won't cover and we need the balance transfer and 18 month 0 apr. I thought the BTs were usually at sign up only.
