My synchrony amazon card started with a $600 limit back in 2015. I didn't use it for the first few months. Then in May this year I clicked the luv button and it increased by $500 to $1100. Before May i would hit the luv button but no increase. I tried to hit the luv button after my increase in may but it was denied. Well today after paying off the small remaining balance on my account i started a chat session with them online. I asked for an increase to $1500 after about 2 minutes the chat specialists says Congratulations! you request was approved. Shortly after i went to the backdoor on my transunion report and see they soft pulled me. My score is 654 on transunion. So it is possible to get an increase after a luv button denial. Just some data points. There is no pattern with synchrony they are all over the place hard to figure them out. One thing i notice is they are pretty good with increases. On my jcpenney card before my 4th statement i would get denials on the luv button but as soon as the 4th statement printed i got a $250 increase on my $500 starting limit bringing me to $750. But the most they gave me on my walmart card was a 150.00. i may have to go for another chat online to see if that one will raise more.

Well since i got an increase on my amazon i did the same thing with my walmart card. limit was in the range of 400. i called the backdoor and asked to raise it to 1000. after put on hold for a few minutes she comes and says i have thoroughly reviewed your account and your request has been granted. Bingo! The line was doubled. Thinking about doing it on my sams card now. I wonder if i should have asked for 5k. I was conservative. I probably won't use the line. I like to keep my debt manageable. I only have 2k in balances and i'm working on paying off those cards in the next 2-3 months. But it does help with utilization. If you want to carry a $200 balance on a card you need a limit of a 1000 to stay at 20% on that card. My utilization is at 21%. I would like to be under 10%. But the data points are interesting. use the chat feature or call the backdoor even if you can't get a luv button increase or say you hit it 2 months ago and you still want a higher limit. I had just gotten a $150 increase on my walmart card two months ago. I thought it was a small amount considering they gave me 500 increase by luv button my sams card. You never know with synchrony but i have to say they have been the easiest lender to deal with. I still don't have scores high enough for the bankcards. I'm close at 659 or 654 but i need to be 670 or 680 or above for those. can't wait till i get my score up more.

Where is this luv button and if you get rejected from the luv button is it possible to be accepted if you call in?

Why? After three posts in a row saying not to push it and to call in ... why?

OP, I think he's right.. Unless you want to try the luv button first, and play the phone number as a recon. Is that why you are looking for the luv button?

Amazon showed me love on my store card CL back when my credit was decent.

It wasn't the OP that asked that question.

After you login to your account it is the online option to increase your limit. I call it the luv button similar to the increase button on capital one's website for bank cards. And when that button won't give you an increase you can call the backdoor number (credit solutions) and ask for an increase, or you can do a chat after you login to your account. Have also heard there is option when you call the automated system. Haven't used that one yet. It was a no go on the sams card. denied but then i've only had that one for 4 or 5 months the others i've had 9 or 10 months so more history on the other two that i got increases on. hope this helps ..

  • 1 month later...

I called and they told me it could be a hard pull. I declined. I opened this card 7 months ago I believe. Should I call back? Is it really a hard it is it a 50/50 thing? They told me that they can't even tell me before they try. I certainly don't want a hard pull for a store card since I am trying to let my INq's drop. Any advice here? Thanks

Have you actually called the underwriters directly or gone through the normal CSRs?

It's virtually unheard of to get a hard INQ for a CLI request on the Amazon store card.

I called the number on my card. Maybe I will call the other number and risk a hard pull. Will it matter that I don't have a zero balance right now? I made a purchase yesterday. I have had 7 statements now and basically bought an iPad when I got the card -paid it off in 3 months (3 equal payments) -since then bought little things but always PIF each month, usually before he statement Cuts, and now as of yesterday I bought some things. It hasn't charged it but it has come out of my avail balance. It should charge today when it ships. Thanks in advance

You are not listening. It's virtually impossible to end up with hard INQ for a CLI on an Amazon store card.

Never call the number on the back of the card for a CLI. Call (866) 519-6441. It will be a soft INQ. Tell them what you want. $35k is maximum. Over $25k they might ask for POI. Don't be shy. They counter.
