Beginning of the End for Sears and K-Mart?

Our last KMart, dating back to the early 60s, was just knocked down this week. The property is being developed into low-income senior housing. A common question was..."is that area even safe enough for old people?"

This should be interesting.

I will be in the NY/NJ area in a couple of weeks. Maybe I’ll carve out time to visit one of the remaining stores for ol time sake.

I do have to give a little credit where credit is due. Walmart and Target have seem to have adapted to the point of not meeting the same fate.

JC Penny should save themselves further embarrassment and just fold what they have left.

Shop Your Way Rewards

I had to look and see if the rewards portal was still a thing. Lo and behold, it's still a thing.

It's still a thing.

BTW- Someone over at the shallow pool was approved recently for the Shop Your Way credit card. The Sears and Kmart websites are still alive, apparently trying to sell product.

I thought as much. Too coincidental for a CFO to head for the eternal exit on a Friday before a long holiday weekend. BBBY dropped from 12.10 on the 29th to 9.24 on the 30th to 8.59 on Friday's close. Last time I was in BBBY there was more empty shelves than stocked. Reminded me of Sears before its demise.
