I hate to say this, but CB was so much better ten years ago.... Not really. There was a lot of bickering in the threads 10 years ago as well. People just tend to forget the negatives over time and get sentimental.

Burgerwars
I hope this thread isn't closed, at least not until the SDNL method no longer works, or everyone on the planet has a NFCU account (whichever comes first). I've been tuning out the noise, while watching all those new NFCU members join.

JDK83
Many threads, based on searching for methods of membership in NFCU, have been started, all across the internet, over the years. Most threads are shut down almost immediately by the naysayers. This thread is an outlier. I'm not sure why this thread has been able to survive for 45 pages. It has been a legitimate method for years. Maybe it was Konrad's strength of personality that helped this thread get off the ground. IDK. Admin breeze Posted July 4, 2016 Admin Share Posted July 4, 2016 We like to believe that our members are mostly adults, and can discuss ins and outs, pros and cons, and even disagreements in a civilized manner. But when numerous people start reporting a thread because the discussion has turned into bickering and name calling, we have to take a different approach. This is a good thread, we don't want to close it, but we will if it continues off the rails and into the weeds. I have the cookies and milk on hold. I'm afraid y'all would start a food fight. Losluv
Well as always I'm late to the party. I just applied, following the OP's instructions on the first page. I have read all 46 pages and I do not see anywhere that this membership method has become a victim of the CB effect, so I'm giving it a shot. Thank you again OP for this thread. Konrad2012
Well as always I'm late to the party. I just applied, following the OP's instructions on the first page. I have read all 46 pages and I do not see anywhere that this membership method has become a victim of the CB effect, so I'm giving it a shot. Thank you again OP for this thread. The CB effect is going to be tempered by NFCU's sheer size and body of eligible membership. Consider there are 6 or 7 million members, and all of their family members are eligible. Consider 200,000 people (a guess and I am not going to google it might be much lower now due to drawdowns and sequestration) enlist or accept a commission in the armed forced every year that gain eligibility, as do all of their family members. Consider how many DoD civilian contractors and employees there are that are eligible, as are their family members. If 1000 people joined NFCU as a result of this thread, it's but a mere drop in the proverbial bucket. It has been a legitimate method for years. Maybe it was Konrad's strength of personality that helped this thread get off the ground. IDK. It's Kon's persona. I was doubtful after reading a few pages but Kon kept pushing and made me do it almost three weeks after OP. I became a believer after he scorned someone for not following the steps as described on the original post.

People just tend to forget the negatives over time and get sentimental. Not being sentimental at all, however CB use to be more of a "community" but also being realistic, we had way fewer members back then. Yes we would have some "skirmishes" and George and Hege always come to mind, but the bickering tended be more of a temporary "skirmish" and not an entire thread going off the rails. If we all got on the same page, much could be accomplished.....
