There was a time when scumprime credit cards would have more fees than credit limit. So you'd get the card and have to immediately pay it down in order to stop accruing penalties for being over the limit and then there's the ability to even use the card.

It’s so sad that people get sucked into those cards because they are desperate for an approval.

Up to now, the balance transfer period provided by Discover Bank seems to be relatively short, and the percentage of handling fees may be higher.

OTOH, everyone desperately needs cash to afloat now, and I hope people can tough it out and deal with it as hard as the Texans do now.

Aspire Mastercard... PREAPPROVED, BABY!

$1,500 credit limit**

25.99% APR Variable

Surprisingly, there's a grace period

$150 annual fee the first year, then $29 a year

$150 annual "account maintenance fee" billed at $12.50 per month

3% foreign transaction fee

I couldn't respond fast enough! 😐

I've started saving these offers as I'm about 3 months away from paying off my Ch. 13 and was curious about tracking them.  Also received a surprisingly decent offer from CreditOne (1% rewards Amex, no annual fee, grace period), as well as an offer from Ollo.

Which Aspire Mastercard did you pre-approved? Is the issuer Comenity Capital Bank or a bank in Missouri ( Bank of Missouri )?

I may be wrong, but I will not appreciate usury fees! I never like any credit card name related to the word Aspire, especially adding diamonds after Aspire. It takes you back to the era of Cross Road Country Bank, and whoever has their credit card account before the experience is the worst, I might add that it surpasses Credit One and First Premier.

It is issued by The Bank of Missouri, St. Robert, MO.

Letter from Synchrony that I "had insufficient experience at my current credit limit" on my Verizon Visa

*middle finger*

Well, kudos to you, nonetheless .... this post prompted me to take a fresh look at the card.

I had erroneously dismissed the card, thinking that its use to pay our Verizon Wireless/Fios would kill the $20 auto checking payment credit we get monthly.  Turns out that stays intact, plus there's a $100 reward bonus that accrues evenly over the first 24 months along with 2% rewards on Verizon payments and 4% on gas (among others).

Good deal for us.  Applied in Bev's name since she owns the telecom accounts.  Instant $9500 approval.  (Par for Synchrony, in my limited experience with them.)

Out of curiosity, would you share your Sync Verizon CL?  I'm assuming $15k+ is exceptional, $25k non-existent.

Got a new BT offer from FNBO...this one drops the APR to a still-mammoth 4.9% from the former (and still unused) offer of 5.9%.  However, the fee goes to 2% from the former 1%.  Still not interested, even if I had a balance TO transfer.

Credit One Cash Back Rewards Amex.  Exact same offer as last month, actually.  No annual fee, 1% back on all purchases, 23.99% APR, credit line "up to $2500", grace period on purchases.

I actually just made my last chapter 13 payment, so once the discharge comes through I'm sure I'll get bombarded with offers.

Considering I once had a $25K line with Synchrony (Walmart Mastercard now with CrapOne) and have a $9500 CL with Lowe's, Synchrony really went chinsey with the Verizon Visa card - $4K. This with a FICO8 of 825+ across the board (at the time).

When is the last time you shopped for mobile phone service?

My parents and my aunt share three lines for $68.91 a month (total post-tax).  Your $20 monthly credit exceeds TAD's entire bill.

      to become obsolete for reporting
      Effective April 2022

As noted within Exhibit 4 (Account Status Codes) in the Credit Reporting Resource Guide (CRRG®) since 2020, Account Status 05 (Account Transferred) will become obsolete for reporting in April 2022.

Refer to the Transferred category within Exhibit 6 for a list of Special Comment Codes that should be used instead of Account Status 05. Refer to Frequently Asked Question & Answer 46 for guidance on reporting transferred accounts, and to Frequently Asked Question & Answer 47 for guidance on reporting sold accounts.

All guidance that relates to accounts being transferred or sold has previously been updated to advise that the Account Status should be reported as of the time of transfer or sale so no further updates will be made to existing CRRG® FAQs (46 & 47) as a result Account Status 05 being retired.

The Metro 2® Task Force recommends that data furnishers transition away from reporting Account Status 05 as soon as possible.

If there are any questions, please e-mail metro2info@cdiaonline.org.
