Attempted to write a goodwill letter to AFNI to delete a collection I had Paid in full about 18 months ago. I got this response back...

Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for your inquiry. Your account will be furnished to all 3 major credit reporting agencies as closed and paid in full. We do not exchange credit deletions for payments.

What should be my next plan of attack with them. Should I resend another goodwill letter in a month from now? Please advise on my next move. Thanks!!

Dear Recovery Team,

I do not exchange payments for notations that do nothing to improve my credit score.

In my experience, the best thing to so with a letter from AFNI is ignore it, especially if it's for a small amount. Many times, the alleged debt isn't even yours, and they are just fishing. Paying them or communicating with them just causes more trouble. I have thrown away many AFNI letters over the years. They never reported, and they never sued.

Just my .02...YMMV.

You paid it, and the reporting sounds correct. Pay for deletes are most a myth.

ProcessServer is correct. If you pay AFNI, you'll just cement it to your reports for the full 7 years.

Just got this back from them... Not budging

Dear

Afni thanks you for your payment. Accordingly, in the normal course of business, Afni will furnish that that we have received payment in full of your account, and will furnish a $0 balance. This will reflect the accurate status of this account. We understand that you are seeking removal of this tradeline from your credit report; however, to remain in good standing with the credit reporting agencies, Afni’s policy is to furnish the accurate status only.

Tell them there is no law requiring them to report anything. When did they first report this? Was it after you paid?

They reported it before I paid... I had no clue at all about my Credit Reports and score.
