:cry2: So, in knowledge of the impending 5,24 inclusion of Ink and the cobranded chase cards, I took the big leap, and .... 30 days. Following Kmans advise, I unfroze EX , which Chase always requires in NYS, after talking to recon, who said that that was the problem. Chatted up the very friendly UW and ... declined due to chargeoffs in the past. I asked him if I should consider apping a cobranded card and he said, "it's going to take a few more years, don't waste your time." I asked if I was blacklisted and he told me to consult the MyFico website. That he was not allowed to give that information.

SO, with my top four apps gone, I am onto a regional card that has some MS ability and ,of course, Bpg and HHonors from AmEx.

It makes the spend so much easier but that is just sour grapes justification. I am a little crushed with such good offers out there but there must be some rhythm to this rhyme. Three apps and then I am back in the garden for quite a while. EQ will be a thought of the past.

Just goes to show that Chase holds a grudge for a LONG time. Actually, may try Citi AA next. Then AmEx. Suggestions on the order, anyone.

This is a high class set of problems, I know, but it still stings.

Just for some data... I had an over 8k charge off with chase after a car wreck that left me in bed for over a year. Last year when I fixed my credit up I apped ink and got declined however I did recon and got a $500 limit. They were super nice and I was shocked when i remembered it was a chase card. That was 8 years after the charge off and had fallen off my profile. Just a heads up for some data, they will forgive and forgive large issues! There is hope, they aren't 20+ years like amex!

Another note to take is that they only gave me $500 limit which has not changed and now I have several 20k cards and they will not budge off $500 for some reason? It is by far my smallest card and a bit embarrassing considering I use it heavy for 5%. I have tried all the tricks from called for CLI to super heavy utilization, quick pay off's large balances reported then paid etc... They are keeping their eye on me it seems for a while but I do have the relationship back and that's what I wanted.

Amex may not necessarily be 20+ years anymore. DW burned Amex for $7K back in 2007 and just got instantly approved for the Delta and PRG last month, only 8 years post-CO. Amex may be loosening the chains a bit, looking for more customers?

Next topic, having caught Citi in a major transgression of the Card Act, in 2014 whereby wrote off $15K of illegal interest, and then sold the remaining in a matter of minutes to a JDB after holding it, $28K, inclusive of illegal interest, for years and years, sending me monthly love letters of collection on ill-gotten gains...

WILL CITI Blacklist me as well, I ask... all is possible in the wonderland of CB, major CC banks, and vengeance tasted cold.

Next episode, tomorrow, same time, same place. I now have two amex apps from a year plus ago falling off later this year, and the ill-considered Chase HI and denial.

Inquiring minds wish to know, Will the lady in the promised land be smitten twice in one defreeze of the god Experian, hosannas to the highest.

Even I am curious. I may be cruising for a bruising.

for data points, i had a wamu CC, cant even remember if it was a CC or a checking account, i knew i had a checking account with wamu and i went voer the limit because they charged the big on transaction to the account first ( this was the last purchase in a chronological order) and the small ones after the large one cleared. so i got hit with over the limit 4 times.

when i deposited some money iw as told i have an overdraft fee of $120, i was shocked. so i went out of thebank and jjust leave it be, this was back in 2004/05.

Now 11 years later on january of this year i called chase to ask for a CLI on my 13 year old CC, they mentioned the account that was charged off back in 2004/2005 and this was a WAMU account, before they acquired WAMU. i told them i have no idea what they are talking about, got the CLI but not the limit i asked.

Typically 10 years from last CO before you can get back in with Chase.

YMMV ... I was allowed back with Chase after 7 years with a settled CO. Initially I was auto declined but was given a Chase Freedom Card after recon.

Sorry to hear that, Liz. :(

At least you are in with Amex. You can focus on them for your travel rewards if you have to.

Amex will extend you huge limits, too, as you build your relationship with them.

Oh Lizzy...

Chase is out, but I'm guessing you really knew that before you started. Now you can get your Citi itch out of the way.

There's still a lot of AMEX business cards you and Nick can churn between you. BGR 75K offers are common, and you can purchase 100K-150K biz PT offers. SPG Biz cards.

BofA has Alaska personal and biz cards. That's 100000 miles for $300 (they don't waive the AF year 1, but the spend requirement is pretty much non-existent)

You also should learn to M$. Just pay for airfare with deals. There's a new French boutique all-business class airline offering 2 tickets from EWR to London Luton for like $2200 RT all in.

I will survive. My record with AmEx is perfect except for an almost simultaneous denial of an auto pay due to Bank of A checking fraud.

It was paid immediately with new account, just bad luck.

I called for recon, got the 10 day on Citi, and we shall see. Then I will go to surer sources like AmEx and other newer bank sources.

I figure that in 2 or 3 years they will relent at Chase, still have to see on Citi.

I always prefer the bad news first, even at a ding of 3 points. Too bad Chase has all of the hotel cards I want but AmEx has HHonors and if Citi will take me back into their loving arms, they have American.

And I know that MR translate to AA although I have not gone there. Have a ton of Avios. No longer a good transfer rate, however.

Well, I have now been through the drama of Cleaning Up, although I still have not heard on reinsertion at EQ, but then I don't need that score for any apps and it is frozen. EX was what I needed clean, with the last removal good old Chase.

Between holding a long BL grudge, 5.24 on Ink and cobranded cards coming up, and 5.24 on their existing, they must have a fairly elite group of cardholders.

They turned down Nick for a Slate recently, too many new accounts, two of them theirs. Do they open new cards if you transfer open lines of credit. He has almost $50K with them and he doesn't need it, Freedom a lousy $1.2K, two others at $24K each. I want an IHG card with them to add to the priceless surprises of 100K we racked up in that silly sweepstakes. I would imagine that it would take a phone application after the slate turndown. His only utility is on a BT that moved to CapOne for about $12K, all other CCs are

0 balance.

I will post when I hear back from Citi. Ah, the wages of former sin.

Does he have an offer for the NFCU balance transfer now that he cleared it off? I just got 2.99% for a year, and NFCU doesn't have transfer fees. That deal ends Feb 29th.

As for Chase, remember most of the country hasn't burnt Chase for money, and most of the country doesn't apply for 5 new credit cards in two years.

That is true, CBWorld is in its own universe.

I don't know if he got any offers, he doesn't generally look at these. I will ask him to look.

Any thoughts re reallocation of Chase exposure. As said, he has freedom $1.2k and Hilton and British Air at $24K each.

Quit obsessing over Chase. Only thing the past is good for is to smile about or to learn from. Edited by Konrad2012

Then just have him apply. If the UW's give him any problems, he can offer to theft credit line from another account.

mine was the end of 2008 although they have it misrecorded as June 2009. Even EX removed it when they saw the records, Chase just dug in their heels despite proof through retained statements.

I think that it will most likely be a few years. I thought that if I were squeaky clean now with high scores that they might give me a low credit line.

I don't think that Nick will call in or recon. He is so negative re credit cards and chase since they refused the Slate that it would only be if I could do it. I think that they hit their internal exposure and didn't think further. I will try but when he is in a better frame of mind.

No response from message left with underwriter that I had the name of. perhaps tomorrow. Then onwards and upwards. AmEx, TD.

BINGO. Citi AA Plat approved for $13,500.

Now onto AmEx. HOORAY. and my Fico EXP just went up 5 points for reasons unknown. I am a happy lass.

Shall I app the BRG with the $5000 spend with a reservation number(unsolicited) before I app for HHonors? and then CLI my BCP from $5,200 to $15,600 and move some over to my SPG.

Oh, this is so SWEET. *Admin removes vulgarity* Chase anyway, they can't take a fallen woman rising. It's been a year since I got any approvals.

I can't believe that this worked after they reduced an old card by $15K for illegal interest. Maybe their recent headlines re JDB shenanigans is making them more open minded. Oh, I am SO PLEASED.

Maybe I should recon right away for a higher credit line but I am inclined not to. Don't want to push my LUCK.

ANY ADVISE ON AMEX order of apps respectfully requested. My new score is up for their SP. All accts are at -0- balance.
