This is really for my own benefit. I’m pretty sure most will benefit from this post have well.

I'd like to ask the folks, who have been here for a while and have seen great success, to list 5 or more posts that has helped you tremendously in your credit journey.

Hopefully everybody, who had success because of creditboards, participate. This will probably help new folks here who are trying to navigate the sites.

Ok here is an update on all my repair/rebuild actions:

1) I tried to join SDFCU to get a $10,000 secured card and was told I have to come in person.

2) I decided to go for the graduating BOA secured rewards card and was approved for $10,000 with a 684 EQ FICO

3) Yesterday I got a letter in the mail that I am now a member of SDFCU. I was puzzled and called in to verify and yes I am a member. I suppose I'll look at the cards they offer. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?

I now have membership with DCU, SDFCU, and PenFed.

MY CC's

Cap1 secured $3000 - Discover IT secured $500 - Total Rewards Visa (My 1st unsecured line) $2250 - BOA secured rewards $10,000

My UTIL is 1%-2% with the exception of my Discover's Dec statement has 31% due to Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals not posting, and me not knowing anything about using billpay to control my balances before they post.

Credit Reports

Equifax 684 - CLEAN

Experian

STATE COLLECTION SERVICE (5 accounts) ALL were magically deleted today!!!!! Woohoooo.

$53<-------------

$114<-------------

$1,008<-------------

$389<-------------

$630<-------------

FRANK'S ADJUSTMENT BUREAU

$0 (6 months from falling off - 5/2015)<------------- disputed online as obsolete and waiting on results.

TransUnion

STATE COLLECTION SERVICE (2 accounts)

$1,008<-------------

$630<-------------

FRANK'S ADJUSTMENT BUREAU

$0 (6 months from falling off - 5/2015)<------------- Disputed online and was deleted next day.

CREDIT MANAGEMENT CONTROL (2 accounts)

$0 (Falls of 10/2015)<-------------

$0 (Falls of 10/2015)<-------------

<------------- means that account is currently in dispute according to WhyChat's HIPAA process.

<------------- means that after HIPAA is complete I will dispute as obsolete.

<------------- means after all else is done hopefully I will be able to dispute these as obsolete.

CONCLUSION

I stay on top of my UTIL other than this bump in the road in Dec on my Disco IT. I would say 7-9 months seems like a pretty reasonable amount of time to expect clean reports. It's not a guarantee but a goal.

As far as apping for new credit. I am kind of clueless. I have done much research about PenFed and they want next to no new accounts. Should I give it one more shot before my 90 days is up for using the same hard pull? I think that would be in the middle of Jan. My history is still pretty short. Actually now that I am looking at the months listed below, it seems like going for PenFed again would be a waste of time. So do I garden for almost a year so I can get a PenFed account? Or do I not worry so much about getting in with them and move on to other things. Also I would like to mention that apping for anything with a report that is not 100% clean is out of the question. I am soooo close I'm not gonna jump the gun with "only" 1 or 2 negative accounts left. So for right now EQ is the only CRA I will allow to be hard pulled for new credit. Basically I am going to garden for awhile. WHAT YA'LL THINK?????

April '14- Cap1

May '14- Discover IT

October '14- Total Rewards Visa

Dec '14- BOA secured

Note: I am not very interested in the DCU card because of their odd "whenever they feel like it" reporting tactics. As long as I am a member of SDFCU, I might as well look at their cards.

THIS ^

Keeping a record of all past and present negatives. notice the hellohello, that allows you to see what has already been deleted and how far you have come. Today I can look back on my story and follow the trail of CA's being deleted. Every once in awhile I look back at this thread and smile because I have acheived the success that I had hoped for.

Also it is important to keep this info all in one thread and not start 1 thread for each collection.

I haven't been active long, but the following have helped me tremendously.

- PsychoDoc's classes

- WhyChat's HIPPA process

- Learning the laws and how to apply them for your situation.

- 1 -2 punch

- Jack Attack

I would also add:

You need to know your legal rights. Read read read - FCRA, FDCPA and FACTA. Also know what your rights are for your state. You need to know the SOL and if your state has stronger protections. Texas and NY do.

The other thing is to ask questions - many of the people here have been at the worst and are now recovered. They can help with giving advise on any and all situations that you are facing. I suggest after reading that you posting about your situation. Then LISTEN to the advise that is given. The people here are trying to help you. They will steer you onto the right path.

Keep positive - it's a long process and can be very aggravating at times. It is worth the time and effort that you will have to put into your repair effort.

Real Fico scores. I feel like an salamander thinking back to previous mortgages and thinking my scores were one thing when they were actually quite different. Dang Fakos.

I can relate. I found out about fico scores here too. Funny thing is that my fico was much higher than my fako scores.

I could have done more transactions had I known that.

CB Helped me build my knowledge of business credit and state laws.

I started my own repair process in 2002, and have studied federal statutes since that time. However, being here on CB helped me add to that knowledge base, and I'm still learning and growing. So many individuals to thank.

Standing ovation to BRBIZ, ICANHASMUNY, :clapping:for the awesome info.

Don't be too quick to pull the trigger.

Always research before pulling the trigger.

I know myself (and probably many others), would be stuck with a bunch of low-limit Comenity store cards, First Premier, and Credit One cards. The best thing that ever happened to me was being denied for Credit One. I ended up doing HOURS of research, found out about secured credit cards, researched more, then pulled the trigger on the Capital One secured card (which, at the time, allowed me to increase the deposit at any time). I believe this got me to the road to success. It will be exactly 5 years ago on Friday.... I can't believe it has been this long!

Patience.

The useful things I've learned on CB depend on where I was in my journey, I've been a member for nearly 10 years.

At first, when I was repairing my credit, everything listed beforehand (previous messages) was invaluable.

Later, as I then started to rebuild my credit:

- Understanding FICO score factors

- Tradeline aging

- Amex D* (RIP)

- Recon, recon, recon

- Higher limits beget higher limits (prybarage)

Now, as I work on Credit Pimp Status, the most helpful information is which cards offer the benefits that work for me, high limits, etc.

Special shout out to Bob Wang, Mendlesshon, CV for all their hard work and knowledge.

I've learned higher limits, begets higher limits.

Denial doesn't always mean no. Always recon.

Avoid store cards, especially the ones that are notoriously known not to grow really well even with high scores........Which is most store cards.
