Congrats! Is that your only card with them?

I now have 3 cards with them. I've had the AAdvantage MC, that started with an $1400 limit in Jan 2017. I was just approved this month for the Simplicity(10K) and Costco Visa (9.5K). I will lay low for awhile and build the relationship.

Phoned in to PC my TYP to a DoubleCash. After that was done, the representative asked if there was anything else she could help me with. I asked about a credit line increase. The representative said she could put in a request, and it would not result in a hard pull to my credit report. (and she was correct, no hard pulls have appeared on my report).

She asked my income, monthly housing, and, I got a $1400 CLI on the card, 4 years old. I then asked about the other Double Cashes I have (PC'ed from American Airlines cards) and one got a $1500 CLI and one a $4000 CLI. They are 3 and 1.5 yrs old.

I've asked for soft pull CLIs in the past, I think I got one about 3 years ago on the TYP, but nothing since then.

It's now been 18 months since I last applied for a new Citi card, so that may have something to do with it.

Virtually everybody can get a soft-pull CLI every 6 months on the Citi online banking site. It's usually about 10% of your current CL.

Interesting. Before I got my Citi DC, I called in and asked to PC my Simplicity to a DC - they said they couldn't do that. Man, long term memory is fuzzy; I can't remember if she said they wouldn't do it for that card, or simply wouldn't do it. The Simplicity was great for a BT - but now that it's paid off, it's only purpose is to pad util and help with AAOA as time goes by. But since cards are paid in full, I don't need the util padding...eh, it'll just sit in the drawer.

Have you attempted to combine them?

"Have you attempted to combine them?"

Tried last fall, no luck. See

I have no real need to combine, and as long as Citi doesn't cap the number of cards I can have, like AmEx and possibly B of A, I'm happy keeping the lines open. I have one big "prybar" each with Chase, Discover and B of A, so no need to pile on more banks to the prybar list.

I had tried that pretty regularly for a couple years with zero results. Maybe I'm in their good graces now.

Wow! You are the first I heard of that couldn't get the 6-month-gift from Citi.

They must have really hated you. :)

I have been denied. They said I have reached max exposure unless I take a hard pull.

this has been my experience for the past year. I am pretty sure I am at the max CL for my income and I refuse to take a HP for experimenation.

Same here. I am at $109K across 4 cards. I don't really need a CLI as I only use 1 of the 4 regularly.

Here is a link to the Citi CLI page. This link will take you to a CLI page even if the luv button doesn't appear on your card account management page. It would be cool if we could get people to post their results here and aggregate them as we have with Disco and others.

Pay attention to the verbiage. It can say "We will not pull a credit report" meaning a soft attempt. Or it will say "We need 24 hours to review a report" meaning you'll get a hard.

If it gives you a soft CLI, it will also give you the option to get a higher CLI with a hard pull...and allows you to enter the limit you are requesting.

$1,400 for me on a Citi AA Pt. Account is 6 months old. Random number. Lower than I thought since my last Citi soft showed an increase from 720->810 on Citi's 900 point scale but whatever. I'll try again in 30 days, 60 days etc.

Nice

Just got a $3k increase to $19,500

I should check this more often. Have had the card a year now and this was my first attempt.

What's your limit now?
$9,500 and I'm pretty sure they have my income at $30,000.

That would put Citi's limit to income ratio at 30%. There has to be something more to it. I'm pretty sure there are others that are at more than 50%. It would be interesting to know Citi's logic.

Don't forget they aren't outright denying me. They are just saying that they need a hard pull.

You are right.

There are still others who get soft CLI at over 30% limit to income. There has to be something else. AAOA, DTI, being a student or some other minor factor(s) that trigger their automated response.

Anyone have success using a soft to increase their costco card limits?

Yes. I went from $5500 to $6900 after 180 days and fairly light usage - maybe 300 a month. Income is less than 50k, and scores were...about 720 then, maybe 730. No negatives, but thin (lots of cards, but not much AAOA, aside from student loans) file with about a dozen inquiries.
