I wonder if it's worth to drive out of state to just get the 10K spending done.

Even if it costs me a few $ in expenses and fees, still mighty worth it.

Plus I'll get to join the Extremist M$ Club

You have Walgreen's and FD in NYC.
FD?

Figured it out .

I just bought 4 x $500 (one transaction) without issues in Walgreen's.

VGC's?

What is a VGC .. some kind of gift card? any fees associated to it?

Visa gift card. Yes, it costs money but I don't mind paying just under $100 for $2200 cash back.

2200 cashback? how did you figure?

10% from Apple Pay up to $10K spending on top of the regular 1%, and the double cash back promotion makes it 22%.

You get an extra 10% on top of the original 1%

If you have double Cash Back, which was available for current consumers back in JUNE and new members as of now.

You get 11%* 2% =22%

Just a side note: Watch OS 2 (required to add Discover on the Watch) release is delayed, so iPhone only for now.

thanks for pointing this out. I was having an issue and hadn't had time to look into it yet

IIRC, you had the 6 PLUS

Watch.

And you should know what FD is.

There's no need to leave NYC to do this and apparantly regular M$ IS possible in NYC.

I will be making my First attempt possibility tomorrow...

I've just been too lazy to upgrade to iOS 9 without backing up.

iTunes is a POS... Sorry, but I had to vent

Too bad the watch doesn't have stand-alone data coverage.

That would make Apple Pay super awesome with no phone required.

What are you waiting for? Get spending. This is too good of a deal to pass up.

I will be doing the update to iOS 9 probably tomorrow and should hopefully get some spending done tomorrow.

I have until December 31st to do the spend. Not in a huge rush

Speaking of dates, I will probably wait another week before transferring my MR points to Avios.

Hoping they come out with a 2 week promo for bonus % for transfer

So for the iPhone people / Apple Pay people. Question

Say I grab an iPhone 6, just pay retail. And I tell Sprint I want to add a 3rd line on a group plan so it's super cheap and no contract (since I don't want to get rid of my Galaxy/Android)

I get Apple Pay, load my Discover, blow it out. Could I then set up a new account with the same phone number/line and load a Discover Card that was my wife's and repeat? Or can I have mine and my wife's Apple pay on the phone simultaneously?

I don't know if you could have 2 different account holders simultaneously, but you could link and unlink yours.

You will only need - 1 iPhone as long as you're not doing the spend at the same time

You can load any number of credit cards to your digital wallet, the only potential issue you will encounter is authentication (not a problem since its your wife) and potential confusion on which card you are attempting to transact on.

I don't see why you couldn't have both Disco cards on there at once. No different than me having my CSP and Freedom on there at the same time.

Ok, I'll bite, I'd like to play this game for some free money.

This would be an example of me dipping a tender toe into the "MS* game".

My question is thus, I have an 15 year old Discover card, ("Cashback Bonus" on both the physical card and on Discover's website).

Obviously, this card is not eligible for this promotion. In fact, I only use this card each month for a small charge, followed by PIF before closing to get a free FICO 8 from TU each month.

Should I ask Discover to PC this account to a product that qualifies for this promotion?

Will they do this? From my reading of this thread I won't get any "Double Cash Years", (but an easy $1,000 is still worth doing).
