I stopped at Walgreens again this morning and was able to make a purchase. This was the third Walgreens employee at two different locations limiting me to $500 per day. Is anyone else running into this? I am in dfw btw

Out here, the one I have been going to limits you to 1/day for each type of card. So each of the last 4 days I have bought a OV for $500 and a PPMC for $500. It think it is store by store because I dont think the POS limits it per other's experiences. I have not tried to be pushy, all of the cashiers (and even an asst. manager) have been cool so far, don't need to get pushy and F up a good thing...

4 down, 6 to go.

And the one per day is their own made up rule. I bought a $500 gift card this morning because "that is their limit" and came back this afternoon and bought another $1000 of the same card at the same location. Before and after work

Who's made up rule?

I would call it a policy rather than a rule that is either not conguent among all stores, unknown by all employees, or unenforced by all employees.

Whatever one wishes to call it, I've experienced the $500/day/person issue at more than one store, but not each time at those stores. YMMV

^^^ I believe Walgreens. ^^^

Then how was I able to buy $2K at a time at two different locations?

It's not a Walgreen's rule.

I was only referring to the other poster who stated they were only allowed to buy 1 type of gift card at a time at a Walgreens store. I'm not saying it's company wide either or in fact it's an actual rule, or policy. I was just answering the poster who questioned "Who's made up rule" with some anecdotal evidence that another member posted. Edited by BrokeTriathlete

I think that would be me. Call it policy or rule but AFAIK it is nationwide.

ok I see. As myself and many others have posted, what ever you want to call it, it's widely inconsistent and the right hand doesn't know what the the left hand is doing.

I understand that and it is to our benefit. Just pointing out why some are running into the one card limit. It is not a case where the store is making it up.

Bought and iPhone 6s off Ebay today. $425 brand new with express delivery.

Went through the AA Shopping Portal to Ebay - 425 AA miles

Used a $20 Ebay coupon good through Sept 27th - saved $20

Paid for $220 of the phone with Ebay GC's I bought at a 6% discount plus 5 UR's/$ - saved $13 plus 1100UR's.

Activated a $15 paypal deal for spending over $150 in Sep - saved $15

Used a UR earning card since that what was saved in Paypal - 185 UR

So for the $425 purchase, I paid $377 and got 1285 UR's and 425 AA's.

All for the privilege of getting to take Disco to the cleaners. And if it's easy enough, I will app my wife a Disco as well since the infrastructure will all be in place.

Last week I bought 1,000 of VGC's in 2 different Walgreens. The cashiers didn't bat an eye. We even had a nice chat.

This week I go into those same Walgreen's, and the same cashiers tell me that it is Walgreen's policy to only allow the purchase of one VGC at a time. I went to a third Walgreen's and heard the same story.

Interesting.

It sounds like too many people have been calling in, or maybe Discover is getting nervous and asked Walgreens to start enforcing their own policy.

Same here. Bought 2k in one purchase last week. Clerk was cheerful and appeared unconcerned. This week same store rack is empty, asked at counter and they are now keeping Visa variable load behind the counter and you can only buy one card per day.

As much of a hassle as it might be, at least there is plenty of time to max out the offer

With the 2x's promo, you're clearing min $104 with every VGC you purchase even after liquidation fees. It's worth some little hassles :)

My first-time experience:

First store, elderly lady: Couldn't use Apple Pay because they "can't identify card".

Second store, no One Vanillas. Didn't bother asking if there were any more.

Third store, young clerk. No problem! Even helped since I wasn't sure about when the verification on the phone was supposed to occur.

I have a low limit on my Discover, so I was already planning on making multiple trips.
