IC Systems DV Response - Help w/ Next Steps

Hey Creditboards,

 

I recently sent IC systems a dv letter in regards to an old utility account they were collecting. They responded with a letter that says "accept this letter as confirmation IC will no longer pursue collection of this account and will return it to OC".

 

What should my next steps with this be? Am I safe doing nothing? I am assuming OC will just send it to another collection agency. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm wondering if this collection ever came back. I have an old utility that I've tried disputing with OC, but they just keep sending it to different CAs. IC Systems is the latest and I'm wondering if a DV letter is going to be more effective in the long run than the CRA dispute, which only seems to bounce it back to OC and then the next CA.

I would call IC systems and confirm that they are also deleting from all 3 credit bureaus, if that is not also clarified in their letter.

If they are giving up on the account and returning it to the OC, then they have to delete also.

 

The utility company might send it to another collection agency. You just have to wait and see on that issue.
