And what are you doing now to obtain higher scores? What credit have you been approved for with your scores, lately? I, personally would like to gain apprx 130 pts in 6 months. My fico scores now are Tu:527 Experian :522 and Eq:509.

It seems like I am the only one on here ,anyway with these types of scores still. I want to hear from folks that are still in the 500's and what has been their strategy so far.

I do enjoy reading all the other cool posts of how someone got a 50k increase by a backdoor number and spoke to someone who gave them additional 5k. while they were on hold.

Or got a pop up cart trick for 3k and turned it down and it became 10k!

All these people scores are 700+! Cool

but what about us pions? Lol

Been advised not to get in toy store hell and to keep hope alive.

I just want to hear from people that are in the same boat as me ,now. Not used to be. I appreciate all the motivation and knowledge this far, and just want to hear from those who are in the trenches with me. Who's in to share their current situation with me? Trust me , I not here to belittle anyone.

To me , you can apply for decent cards with your scores.

Hello OP, I am pretty much were you are, as far as scores are concerned. FICO: EQ 530 TU 556 EX 521

The majority of my COs are well past SOL(statute of limitations) but they are so petty that no one would bother sueing me anyway(gosh, I was so ignorant and petty about credit smh). I have 10 COs (totaling $14,752) , 6/7 are scheduled to fall off in the next year, the rest in the next 3. I am waiting until about the 6 month mark to do any DVs or GWs.

I have been avoiding credit like the plague for the past 10 years or so, which was not a wise thing to doing being that I haven't inherited an insane amount of family wealth (mainly because there is none :/ ). Some time during the past couple of months I found myFico forums and then creditboards and got busy. The one thing that has helped my credit are my student loans(roughly 33,000), which I've never been late since they were established in 04. They have been deferred twice during their history (luckily for me I have never been ignorant nor petty about them). I have recently applied for secured and low-limit CCs(all USAA) in order to establish revolving credit and have been on top of paying bills on time. Each card gave my scores a 30-50 point boost, then BAM! Two medical bills hit my credit a few days ago and my scores plummeted. I will be paying those using the HIPPA program approach.

Since I am limited to what I can get approved for, I have just been educating the heck out of myself about how credit works and how to make it work in my favor. I have learned so much in such a short time that I cannot shut up about it. Literally, I can't. I talk to my husband, friends, family, and children about it every chance I get. My children are 9,3,3, and 21 months lol. Now, I can't give you much advise since we are pretty much in the same boat, however, I can say stick with it, pay off as much as you can, and probe these forums for info on other things you can do if funds are low.

Oh! During my period of ignorance, I racked up what I have learned is an insane amount of inquiries the pat two years. I was apping for an auto loan and had no clue of the negetive effects. I have roughly 40 on one, 20 on another, and between 14-20 on another I think.

Did you start with the "Newbies Start Here" thread? There's no magic that's going to bring your scores into the high 600's in 6 months. You've got some serious derogatories on your credit reports, and your FICO's are going to reflect that until they either age off, or you get them deleted.

Federal tax liens are easy, in that the IRS's policy is to delete the lien from your CR *once you've made good on the lien*. The only hard part is paying the lien :)

Some State tax liens can be removed once they've been satisfied, while other States have an explicit policy of not deleting - depends on where the lien is from

I assume the two USAA accounts are reporting 30/60/90/120 lates? Those are going to hurt a lot, for several years -- unless you can get USAA to goodwill them off, or you can find a report error to dispute them

Cap 1 CO - is going to hurt a lot until it's 4-5 years old

The two collection accounts, in combination with everything else, are hurting alot. But the good thing about a collection account, is that they tend to screw up their reporting details, so you might find a defect that you can challenge

Would you say it is realistic to have 0 derogs on your report in 6 months? If so, then your score will go up a lot. I'm not sure if it'll go up 130 points though, only FICO and maybe Mr. Wang could make a guess about that.

Honestly, the only thing I see different in 6 months would be that the two Usaa accounts balances would be $0 , tge trident assessment collection either would be pfd, deleted or a settlement payment and the bk would be gone too.

I just was thinking I could make the good out weigh the bad here, guess not.

The things that are reporting now are accurate and true.

I think disputing them may yeild unintended consequences. There is a possibility the CRA's delete the entire TL from your report. If that TL is hurting you, I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Anyone else have an opinion on this? I didn't do a whole lot of disputing to get my reports clean.

Well, the news that I got directly from Usaa ,was that once paid in full, the accounts would report " paid as agreed" just with the host of lates though. I dont think I want the whole tradeline deleted. After all, it was truly my fault for the account getting the way that it did.

Oh. If it was me, I wouldn't mind if they were removed completely.

Really ? why? My scores could go up once they're paid off.

And if I take the other route..what is the best time to dispute them? after I pay them in full or now?

Your scores will go up only of the goodwill letters work. If those lates are stuck on there, I wouldn't mind having the whole TL deleted.

If you just pay them off the lates will still be there.

Interesting approach asking for strategy tips from people who are still in the 500s, because you're tired of reading the advice from people who have already dug out from there...

But if I dont pay them off, they become a charge off and then its not guaranteed that I'll be able to delete them. I'll pay them off and see what it does to my scores and then if not much, then I'll dispute as not mines....etc....

Not everyone on here dug themselves out of 500's. Some people were handed good credit whether its being added on as an Au or just never effed up!

Yep, that came through loud and clear. Good luck.
