Hi all,

Been a while, but trust me I've been lurking.

Decided to app for the AMEX Every Day Card today on a whim. I'm officially in! I recently sold my house and paid off all my debt except for my car (obviously). Well, I guess this gave me enough of a bump to make me AMEX worthy. For the record, I am just over 5 years post Ch 7 BK. They gave me a decent ($2000) starting limit but my intention is to PIF anyway and earn that 10,000 mile bonus. Anyone else have this card? I know its a fairly new product.

Congrats! I'm more of a fan of the Everyday Preferred, but this is a solid no AF card.

You should consider apping for a PRG for the 2 for 1. That would give you some more MR points, and you can cancel in year 2 if you don't want it. I'm not sure if the 50K public offer is still available though.

Big congrats! How far past the 5 year BK discharge date are you?

Sorry I've been away for a time. No acronyms! Speak English! HAHA

I like the Everyday Preferred because the rewards are better overall, especially with the 50% bonus.

If you apply for a charge card on the same day as a credit card, it will be 1 inquiry. If you apply for the Premier Rewards Gold, you can get another Membership Rewards bonus to add to your 10K bonus on the Everyday card. There's no annual fee in the first year.

There was a 50K public offer for the PRG, but I'm not sure it's still available. The regular bonus is 25K.

I received my BK 7 discharge on 7/2/10. So almost a month past the five year mark?

Open this in a private browser if you don't get the 50K offer to show:

https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/personal-card-application/premier-rewards-gold-card/36500-10-0?intlink=us-ccsg-viewallcards-PRG-Apply

50K points for $1K in spending in 3 months.

No annual fee the first year.

You can register your airline of choice and buy a $100 gift card once in 2015 and again in 2016 before cancelling.

So this offer is worth $200 plus 50K points.

Nice! I hit the 5 year next March. I was wondering how soon after to app.

Congrats again!

I did go ahead and app last night but it says they need further info so please call this number.... And then they're closed LOL. Probably the same thing that happened with the other app, had to call and verify identity since we moved recently.

  • 1 month later...

Just to come back and update, was finally approved for PRG. They even backdated the account (I think) to the date I first had an AMEX all those years ago when I asked them to. Both of my shiny new AMEX cards say "Member Since 08"

Did you IIB Amex? I'm assuming not - They've, lately, been known for approving a few years outside of a BK. But they still seem to dislike those who IIB'd.

Congrats on the approvals!

I did not. My wife had an SPG AMEX that was BK'd and I was an authorized user. But other than that, no.
