I received an alert a few days ago through CCMP that there was a change to my credit report. I pulled up my latest and Convergent is reporting on EX and EQ a debt. However, I never received a letter from them prior to this alert. The only thing I could think of is T-Mobile from just short of 5 years ago.

I have been searching a bit today and I think this letter http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=500226may be the best letter to send.

Because the account number isn't complete, do I need to provide them my full social security number?

This already has caused some stress as just of last week I started to work with a relator to purchase my first house. I spent the past 3 years working to clean up my reports and this just kicks me in the gut.

I am in the state of Florida and I'm having a hard time to find out with the SOL is, some places I see it's listed as a Written Contract for 5 years and some list it as 4 years.

I always list the account number how it's listed on my reports- Scumbag Collectors Acct# 323214****. . Never give a CA your social , period.

Do you have copies of your credit reports directly from the CRAs?

Did you do a mortgage pull already?

What's the DOFD for this account ?

Doesn't list it on CCMP. This collection is not on my paper reports or on the reports I paid for through MyFICO on 02/07/2015

yes, that's the one to send - but convergent is just a CA who takes collection accounts for JDB's

you need to find out who the JDB is - so you need to modify the letter a bit.

Midland and ECB and AFNI are the JDB's I've seen here on CB for Verizon .

convergent has 5 class actions going in different states

don't give them ANY information, certainly not your SS # .

Don't know if this will work for you.

I was able to get Convergent CA to remove unpaid collection on my reports by writing to BBB and disputing the amount.

I noticed in the BBB complaints against them they usually sent it back to OC instead of verifying. I would guess that it is easier for them this way.

They sent it back within a week and deleted tradelines.

I then paid Directv directly before it was reassigned,

Just want to update, letter was sent to Convergent CMRR of course. While I wait for a response, this is appearing to be T-Mobile. Am I understanding this law from down here in FL regarding the SOL that it is 4 years from the original default date? And if so, does Convergent have a right to a) pursue payment and B) report this collection to CRAs?

Update: I pull my credit with USAA and as of today, Convergent is off of my credit report. I pulled the backdoor with EX and only see the soft inquiry from Feb 17th on there. I haven't received a call or a letter from them so I don't know what to make of this. Anyone who has went through this before, if you have any insights I would appreciate your thoughts.

Are you still looking for a house? If you are, mortgage pulls bring CAs and JDBs out of the woodwork. It's recommended that you you do a test pull at least 6 months before you need your actual mortgage, in order to give you time to deal with any surprises like this one.

From the post below, Convergent may have sent it back to the OC (T-Mobile).

If so, you have a brief time window to pay the OC directly before they assign another CA -- if that is what you want to do.

Have you tried to email their customer service? The phone reps are trained not to take anything that has been in collections and to keep their call time to an average of 1 min 30 seconds, so they are not as helpful. The email representatives have a little more leeway in what they can investigate.

Well, it appears that they have recently done away with the email customer service :( but they state that as an alternative you can reach that department via facebook or twitter.
