cv91915
After speaking to Barclays at least 5 times and getting the drift that there is no way they can downgrade or waive the AF, I am canceling the Arrival + Card. I have a bit more than 45K FAKO Miles that I need to redeem immediately and have no travel plans as of on the next few days. Redeeming for account credit isn't a great option because it's only half the miles.... Suggestions??? Try your luck in a thread that isn't about redemptions. Are you being sarcastic? I know it's hard to tell sometimes.

I actually spoke to Barclays regarding that and they said no. Is it possible to transfer these miles to a family member?

I wouldn't expect them to say yes, nor would I expect you to actually call and ask about it. Google yourself. The web is flooded with successes. mendelssohn
And if you click on the airline version, you can buy certain airline gift cards, such as AA.
pwd847
This new Amtrak program is going to be awesome for me! Between Milwaukee and Chicago is only 811 points (ONE WAY) according to the points estimator. The cash ticket is $25. (ONE WAY) Amtrak gets you there faster than a car. No more Greyhounds for me! pwd847
Can you book same day flights using BA Avios? Either all the ORD-MSP seats are gone, or they don't let you book same day. I was thinking about making this a poker weekend. Edited September 18, 2015 by pwd847

cv91915
I've now used the entire $250 air travel credit that came as a benefit on my Citi Prestige. This is for 2015. The benefit resets on 1/1/16 and I can use the $250 again. The AF on this card is $350 ($450 for non-Citigold account holders), so even without the lounge access (Admirals Club when flying on AA/US Air, plus Priority Pass) I'd be ahead $150 in the first year. I use the Admirals Club 3 or more times per month, and while I've had Priority Pass before with other credit cards I had never used the benefit until our vacation this summer. We used the benefit this year to relax, eat and drink in lounges in Nice, Barcelona and Milan.
pwd847
I made my first EVER redemption today. Just a few minutes ago actually. I transferred 9000 Avios from Chase. I figured having 4500 Avios X2 is better than transferring 5000 and having 500 left over by the end of today. It just seemed more logical to me. I'm only getting 2 cpp but the personal value that I place on this redemption is a lot more than that. This trip is allowing me to play poker all weekend long at Canterbury park by Minneapolis, MN (Something I have been wanting to do for a long time). I am flying from MSP - ORD very, very, early Sunday morning. Flight is with American Airlines. P.S. This flight cost me 4,500 Avios and $5. Question: I can just walk up to the AA check in counter to check in for my flight correct? I do not have access to a printer. This BA email I got makes it sound like the email is my ticket, but I doubt that's true. Edited September 25, 2015 by pwd847

Yes, although I believe you can check in on AA.com and have them email you the boarding pass (I am not sure if this can only be done with a flight booked through AA). You can if it is an AA booked flight.
pwd847
When I received the BA email it said that I could cancel the flight and get a refund within 24 hours. I would like to do this. I have heard stories about thier US phone number being busy or the person being on hold for a long time or somehting like that. The phone number that I have to contact them is closed for the night and will not re-open until 7:30am tomorrow. I will be on a plane back to Chicago at 7:30am. Here is my question. I don't care how long I am on hold I just need to know if I will get through within I dunno 2 hours and get my refund. I ordered the tickets around 3pm Friday (Today) so I need to get through by 3 pm tomorrow. Who has actually dealt with BA on the US phone number? p.s. I don't have international calling. Rorer_714
Can't you cancel online? I have called BA a few times to book flights and it maybe took 15-20 minutes.
pwd847
In the email it specifically said to cancel I would need to call. This is a reward flight booked with Avios on American Airlines. I'll poke around the site some more. Yup, it says I need to call. pwd847
Why ya cancelling? I wasn't going to brag, but I am up several thousand dollars at the poker table and I dont need to stay until Sunday. I would rather lock up my win and fly back to Chicago in a few hours. $45 on Spirit.
pwd847
OK so I called BA 3 minutes after the phone lines opened and got through very quick. I got my money back but because it was within 24 hours of departure I had to forfeit the Avios. That sucks but this has been a learning experience and now I know a little more about the program and what I can and can't do. At least it was only 4500 Avios. If I would have gotten through last night I would've been able to keep my points. 6:30am this morning was 22 1/2 hours from departure. My return flight is a $60 AA flight. I have never flown AA before. I went up to the worker to ask how much my carry on would be and he laughed at me. He said, "You must fly with Spirit." Admin Pam Posted September 26, 2015 Admin Share Posted September 26, 2015 I haven't used BA to book reward flights, but on AA and many of the other airlines, you can change award flights for no charge. Sorry you had to lose the Avios.
