Hello all - Hope this is the right forum, etc.

My scores are low but they're better than they were (FICOs 540, 575, 590, EQ, Transunion, Experian).

My question involves Comenity bank and Equifax. I applied for the Orbitz Visa and received a letter saying "unable to approve due to a bankruptcy appearing on my credit history." Well my Bankruptcy is 10 years old and just fell off Equifax and Experian a few days ago. I disputed it as being aged 10 years with Transunion just yesterday and they deleted it already today.

Either my request for credit JUST passed my removal of the bankruptcy, or the bankruptcy is still somehow showing, even though I do not see it listed on Equifax's own site.

Any thoughts? Also, should I re-apply or call them directly through some sort of backdoor number?

Thanks for reading and any assistance.

Welcome to CB!

Sometimes there is a lag in reporting after a BK is deleted. I experienced this when I first appd for a Total Rewards Visa less the 30 days after my BK was deleted from EQ.

However, your scores are a little low for 10 years post BK. You must have other issues that need to be addressed. First order your paper reports, verify the BK deletion and whatever baddies that are keeping your score down. Let us know what's wrong and folks here can help you tackle the baddies.

Then you can plan a post BK app spree for some better cards then Comenity!

Comenity does not update their system even after new reports from CRA.

They wouldn't increase my credit lines on VS and cannot process their preapproved Paypal credit they offered me because according to them, a CREDIT FRAUD ALERT still exists in my file (which by the way, has long been removed and expired).

Send a dispute or letter of request to remove the BK on their system, indicating that it has fallen off of your CRs. That is what I was told to do after I called them to close all my accounts out of frustration (I am a black card VS cardholder= valued customer).

Here is the address:

Comenity Bank

P.O. Box 182789

Columbus, Ohio

I know store cards are frowned upon here but you have to start somewhere. They were the ones who helped me restart my credit hx (Macy's at $200 limit and VS $200 limit). And I kept them because the rewards and bonuses are awesome if you shop on those stores a lot. Just be very selective on the store you apply for and keep them to a minimum just to help start up your rebuilding- maybe 2 of them, And get a secured card (recommended here is 3).
