This thread has been very quiet lately... figure it out... taint that hard.

Discovery going bankrupt?

Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus!!!

The people mashing daily are all at 50k? :)

I think there is definitely a chunk of people who all hit the income verification required for the next CLI and that just takes the fun out of it.

My last attempt was at a 46K limit. They offered 52K with POI or 50K without it. I took the 50K and moved on. Another 2K just wasn't worth the effort then. Maybe in the future, I'll feel the need?

I got about the exact same deal last time. They wanted pay stubs, W2 or bank statements. I was out of state and just took the $50K. Next time I'll send them bank statements.

When I submitted pay stubs they couldn't understand them because the most recent pay period included a bonus. I had to explain how to read the YTD summary info.

You make HOW MUCH every two weeks?!

I once had a CU UW accuse us of not being truthful on HHI since my spouse's gross on her every-other-week pay stub multiplied by 24 did not equal what we stated. Because... every two weeks means twice a month and that means 24 checks a year.

My wife seems to be stuck at $34,100 on her Discover card.

After lots of increases from when she started in the summer of 2015 at $11,100 she now seems stuck.

Her last few requests have been instant denials.

My Discover card started at $12,500 about 6 months ago, received a $500 increase to $13,000 a few months ago.

Just did it again and got another $1,500 to $14,500. I think it was a 60 or 90 day wait this time.

I guess no more increases twice or 3 times a month like it use to be.
Current limit 9,500 now, used my Discover last month up to almost 9K, paid it off before statement cuts, just to see if they will increase the limit. After statement came out, tried increase few times - no luck. Instant denials. And letter says "insufficient experience with a credit limit".

I'm thinking I'm now on the 91 day cycle. Tried once a 65 and then again at 70 days, both instant denials.

Lucky you.

I used to be at 91 days, but now at 121 days + and still with the weak minded "insufficient experience" denials. Same for wife.

The turds at Discovery need LARTing.

Hmmmm. I was at 61 days for a long time. I'll try at 91 and see what happens.

I just got an e-mail they had (without my asking) increased me from $18.5k to $23k,,I was about to ask for a CLI to $30k,,,,,do I have to wait based on the increase they just gave me?

Sometimes people who get an auto increase are able to get another increase immediately by hitting the credit limit increase button online. I think odds are best if you do it the same day. Might as well give it a shot.

I think I received at least 30+ denial letter and after 10 months of opening the account *drumrolllllllllllllllll*

+$300 & first CLI with Disco

I couldn't believe my eyes lol. I never use this card but maybe the system got sick of sending out the denial letters.

The change that did happen to my reports are my utilization dropped from 9% to 3%.

In either case...I'll take it. I should probably use this thing? It's the top 5 lowest CC along with Cap1 Spark Biz and AMEX blue cash everyday.

I also received a whopping $300 CLI from them in 2016. Many have better luck than I though, congrats!

A "backdoor number" is one that gets you past frontline CSR's directly to Credit Analysts / Credit Departments / Account Managers / Account Specialists (different lenders call 'em different things) - these people/departments have decision-making abilities far beyond frontline CSR's; they can take and review requests for reconsideration of denied CC apps or CLI requests, APR reductions, etc. and implement their decisions.

Hello, I'm looking for the best card to pay for a $4k purchase. I've got the money but I'd like to use a card that will get me the most value back like in cash back or sign up bonus for spending a large amount. This is an orthodontist purchase but I want to get the most bang for my money.

I have: AmEx everyday preferred, Capital One secure, CreditOne platinum.
      My relative has Discover it.

I hope y'all can help with this!

Before joining CB's I had no knowledge or appreciation of credit card rewards. When I was rebuilding my credit I noticed under the "advanced tab" posts discussing rewards but at the time I assumed I would never have a use for that. In other words, I simply didn't understand it. Fast forward to today, For Christmas I bought my grandson a limited edition LA Rams Eric Dickerson tee shirt and covered the entire cost through rewards simply by paying my utility bills and using my US Bank cc.

Seriously! If someone was to tell me I could do that four years ago, I would just tune out and dismiss it in my mind. So thank you very much for all the invaluable education here on Creditboards. You all are amazing!

I got some help previously about opening new accounts, but I was curious more about the impact and possible ramifications. I only have 1 credit card in my name, and it only reports on Experian and TransUnion. The rest are AU cards. I have 8 accounts on Experian and TransUnion and AAoA of about 21 years. My Equifax report is a bit thinner. I pulled CCT, and I'm at 777 EX, 782 TU, and 789 EQ. I have been thinking about about a PenFed credit card and an AMEX revolver. I also may be cosigning a small student loan. I'm not certain on this yet, but it's a possibility. I know that this will cause a score hit of some sort (drop in AA), but I'm not sure how severe. I was thinking about forgoing PenFed and just doing AMEX, but I can't make up my mind. Can anyone give me some insight? I would like to avoid permanently damaging my report in some way. I don't know if 2 cards in such a short time is too much. I appreciate any help.

My Amex Everyday Card Preferred sign up bonus pts were added to my card yesterday. The sign up bonus for at least $1K spend within three months is 15K additional points. It's on their website and I confirmed it with Amex over the phone. In the fine print bonus pts will not increase or apply to 50% more pts if you make 30 or more purchases within a statement period. They added 25K pts instead! I'll gladly take the extra 10K pts. Just hope they don't correct later.  Has that ever happened to anyone before?

DESCRIPTIO     AEDP $2k Spd/25k MR Pts These points have been added because of an offer or qualifying purchases made.
