Konrad, how long ago did you fall out of Disco's good graces? Wondering if they have a "probationary" period to re-establish yourself in the proper bucket. When you finally get a CLI from them again this might serve as an indicator of that time frame.

30-Jun Disco pulls soft with same old reports, 735ish FICO.

5-Jul WF dinged me.

30-Jul Disco pulls soft, sees maxed WF card, FICO goes to 718.

30-Aug Disco pulls new soft. Reports back to previous status with one new TU INQ. FICO is at 750

CrapFlake has suggested it's 90 days to get out of their loser bucket. By that time, my paid tax lien will probably be gone and my Alliant SSL will be implemented at 7%. So we'll never (or at least not with me) have a good control report to judge this by since I'll have lots of dynamics in motion.

Well I got a 2 day message last night, so something has changed already.
Well, that was a short re-bucketing.

+$6K

Nice!

My last CLI also came a day later on the 2 day message.

Maybe more like the 1 day result now? :dntknw:

Data point: My friend did a CLI request and he just now also got an increase in less than 24 hours after 2 day message.

Seems like denials and approvals are happening within 24 hours now after 2 day message.

Anyone else seeing similar trends?

$500 to $29800.  First CLI appr on this card in 13 mo.  (Last CLI $5k; card has had very limited use in the last year)   Interestingly, the CLI request form didn't request "Available Assets"

Can anyone confirm or deny this "rule" I came across at some mysterious unknown forum?

" The "Discover Rule" requires a hard pull if current limit is at or above 15k." The date of this was over 10 years ago; things may have changed. It may have been speculation or just plain wrong. For whatever reason, my searches on this forum don't always get what I'm looking for, so Google gave me this result.

I'm going to pretend you didn't post this

What were you trying to find out? What is your question?

CLI's are SP, unless stated otherwise on the CLI form/page.

I can't seem to figure these guys out. A close friend of mine had a limit of $10.6K. Card was maxed out for a period of 18 consecutive months while going through a divorce. Made $5K payment to the account and was auto CLI'd $3800 before the statement even cut. 708 Fico.

Shot down again. Another 24 hour denial

Me too. Hit the button again this morning. I'm not optimistic this time around as Penfed is reporting to the CRA's since my Disco CLI a month ago. AND I also got an alert this morning that my C$R reported on all three bureaus as well. I kind of doubt Disco would give me a CLI with $84K of new TL's reporting. Hopefully they are using the SP from 9/5 for there decision. I don't know if they do a new SP each time the button is hit.

I threw Disco a payment covering 67% of my balance last week. Hit the "luv" button yesterday, and got iFOAD.

The most recent excuse (not from a few weeks ago) was "Too high UTIL" (@ 14.5% overall) and "Payments too low in relation to balance". My statement hasn't cut yet, though.

I'll be paying the remaining balance tomorrow. We'll see what happens after that. I'll to a before-cut and after-cut attempt to see if it makes any difference.

In other news, Barclay and Amex both gave me unsolicited CLI so there's that. And my mortgage is apparently the world's slowest bank to report.

My mortgage FINALLY reported. And I still need to close all the small BS vulture cards. I have a Best Buy Visa with an annual fee and like a $300 limit, still have Credit One that I haven't closed and Merrick. I think it's safe to close them all now.

A "backdoor number" is one that gets you past frontline CSR's directly to Credit Analysts / Credit Departments / Account Managers / Account Specialists (different lenders call 'em different things) - these people/departments have decision-making abilities far beyond frontline CSR's; they can take and review requests for reconsideration of denied CC apps or CLI requests, APR reductions, etc. and implement their decisions.

Hello, I'm looking for the best card to pay for a $4k purchase. I've got the money but I'd like to use a card that will get me the most value back like in cash back or sign up bonus for spending a large amount. This is an orthodontist purchase but I want to get the most bang for my money.

I have: AmEx everyday preferred, Capital One secure, CreditOne platinum.
      My relative has Discover it.

I hope y'all can help with this!

Before joining CB's I had no knowledge or appreciation of credit card rewards. When I was rebuilding my credit I noticed under the "advanced tab" posts discussing rewards but at the time I assumed I would never have a use for that. In other words, I simply didn't understand it. Fast forward to today, For Christmas I bought my grandson a limited edition LA Rams Eric Dickerson tee shirt and covered the entire cost through rewards simply by paying my utility bills and using my US Bank cc.

Seriously! If someone was to tell me I could do that four years ago, I would just tune out and dismiss it in my mind. So thank you very much for all the invaluable education here on Creditboards. You all are amazing!

I got some help previously about opening new accounts, but I was curious more about the impact and possible ramifications. I only have 1 credit card in my name, and it only reports on Experian and TransUnion. The rest are AU cards. I have 8 accounts on Experian and TransUnion and AAoA of about 21 years. My Equifax report is a bit thinner. I pulled CCT, and I'm at 777 EX, 782 TU, and 789 EQ. I have been thinking about about a PenFed credit card and an AMEX revolver. I also may be cosigning a small student loan. I'm not certain on this yet, but it's a possibility. I know that this will cause a score hit of some sort (drop in AA), but I'm not sure how severe. I was thinking about forgoing PenFed and just doing AMEX, but I can't make up my mind. Can anyone give me some insight? I would like to avoid permanently damaging my report in some way. I don't know if 2 cards in such a short time is too much. I appreciate any help.

My Amex Everyday Card Preferred sign up bonus pts were added to my card yesterday. The sign up bonus for at least $1K spend within three months is 15K additional points. It's on their website and I confirmed it with Amex over the phone. In the fine print bonus pts will not increase or apply to 50% more pts if you make 30 or more purchases within a statement period. They added 25K pts instead! I'll gladly take the extra 10K pts. Just hope they don't correct later.  Has that ever happened to anyone before?
