None of the Targets near me sell Redbirds, they are literally on the other side of the state. That or buy one off of eBay for $30+. A got American Express for Target by mistake. :(

Just buy one off Ebay. Yes its a premium, but its worth it.

I live in a region where Target is testing them all around me. But the stores IN my city, nope, not testing there.

So, I'm gonna have to drive about 1.5 hours RT to get one. Figure 2 gallons of gas to be fair, thats $6, then the purchase

and load, another $5-10 for the sake of saying it. $30 is reasonable, its a markup, sure, but its not absurd. You can easily

make that back.

Just did. Was my birthday recently I used brought it using a MGC via PayPal. From what I've skimmed so far, I can load the Redbird with VGCs, but not MGCs? Can you have Amex for Target and a Redbird at same time?

There's an issue (and a workaround) for MGC's at wallyworld. I haven't heard the same of targé (but I've also not read anything about there not being an issue at targé ).

Konrad - have you fed your birds MGC's?

MGC should be fine, since IIRC the only problem at wm was that it defaulted to credit.

Yes loaded 9 of them yesterday. Tell the cashier how much you want to load, Swipe, press cancel, press credit, sign, swipe the rest of the cards.

Staples has a rebate on MCG's for another day.

MS for dummies like me.

The easiest way to get started is with a Red Card. If you don't have them in your area you can buy one on DDF for $20. You can load 5k/mo to the RC at Target using any CC. You drain the funds via bill pay or transfer to your checking/savings account.

Next would be using CC's 5x categories like G/G/D (grocery/gas/drug stores) to purchase GC's. You then find stores that let you purchase MO's (money orders) with the GC's. Deposit MO's and pay off your CC.

Rinse and repeat.

This may be a stupid question....but what is DDF? I googled it and it came back as an acronym for Drug and Disease Free.....I'm assuming this use is something different.

You need to stay off of Grindr.

How many of you are msing a BlueCashPreferred or Freedom or Discover?

Those cards all have spending caps, which limits the potential. The grocery category on the BCP is good for $285 per year after the AF.

This is where the disconnect is between the ms pros and someone like me, who is just starting.

I'm 0-6 trying to buy gift cards at grocery stores with a credit card.

But someone who has bigger fish to fry wouldn't even bother with that.

Going to Target 6 times in a month is basically no-hassle.

That doesn't change the caps in the bonus categories.

I don't follow.

I'll use myself as an example.

The only rewards cards I have are: Quicksilver, Venture, Barclay Rewards, and Freedom.

I'm trying to pimp out my Freedom and Barclays cards to prompt CLIs.

They are both 1% cards out of category, which no MSer would find worthwhile.

You asked if anyone was using those cards for M$, and I was pointing out the limited potential. At least with the Freedom, the UR points can be used for transfer into miles if you have a CSP or IP.

1% cash back is a waste of time IMO.

Right, but because my primary goal is to get higher credit limits, the 1% is fine for me.

Maxing out the Freedom's category bonus is somewhere around a $50 difference for me over the span of 3 months.

Not worth it to try and track down a participating grocery store or gas station for ~$20 a month.

Which is why in another thread I mentioned I was too lazy to max out the category bonuses.

Then people went apes**t like I was degrading them for MSing or something.
