M$ speed bumps

My searching over google et al. may be limited, but I feel that the gods have already laid out all details in this thread. If you stick to recent discussions, say since Apr 2017, in my opinion it's all there. Given my ignorance of the subject and the fact that I am a newbie, using the info in this thread, I have been able to buy Visa GC's and make MO's out of 'em. Only thing I haven't done so far, is deposit them in bank(s), as I haven't quite figured the art of making sure the original creditors won't kill your card... or your banks start investigating. But as far as the 'intel' goes, it's rock solid.

Hope I saved at least one innocent goat.

That's the part I was finding tricky too, getting it back in the accounts, haha. I once upon a moon managed a Rite-Aid, and can now see back in my mind who were the M$ people, and which were the more shady sending Western Unions everywhere along with the GC spending, haha. I figure it might be worth a new bank account to use for that, as I have no other dealings with CapOne for example, and they have a branch within 2 miles of my house....Hmmm.

Don't deposit MO's in a bank that issued a card you're MS*ing.

Don't "Structure" your deposits, which will make you look like a "Money Launderer"!!

Google these two terms in quotes/bold type for more info.

Avoid all anonymous payment sources like Wal-Mart bill Pay, Amex Serve, Pay-pal, Venmo etc,,, etc...

Think about it, all these payment methods are created and exist for the "Unbanked/Under Banked", who by the way would NEVER qualify for a rewards earning CC worth MS*ing!

Jeffe,

I'm in the Baltimore area of Maryland. From reading the Simon malls are good, so there's one out in AA that might be worth a trip.

Depending on how active MS'ers are there, you might be able to jump in at 10k at a time. I go to the same mall Konrad does, so the customer service people are well broken in.

The bigger question is your ability to convert the GC's. If you'r using Wally, rules seem to vary by region, by store, and even by cashier. Here you'll definitely want to start small, ramp up, and heavily work your social game.

At a WG last night I bought a Vanilla VGC with a 4.95 fee.

This morning I went to another WG location where it appears the Vanilla VGCs in the standard Silverman black package had been removed. They had plenty of Vanillas with a 5.95 fee, but I found some gold present packages with a 4.95 fee. Cashier ended up pulling them off the rack as the register coded them as "unsellable". The 5.95s we're able to be processed.

Does Simon keep track of how their cards are drained?

I doubt it. It's a Simon Mall branded GiftCardMall card.

They keep track of more than you'd think.

Try applying for a corporate account and you'll find out how well they track your spend on those cards.

Should have kept the gold cards and taken them to BJ's.

WG and CVS (or Incomm or whoever) are both implementing $5.95 cards

Don't they have to account for those in their inventory?

BJ's are no where around here I haven't been willing to drive the 2 hours to the closest one for recon to date.

Tracking your purchase of the GC's, or tracking the purchases made *with* the GC's?

Tracking your spend on the VGCs you've purchased.

Interesting - and kind of creepy, given that these GC's are ostensibly being given to someone else.

BTW - your message box is full

I mean, it's a prepaid debit card. Of course Meta or Sunrise is going to know what the spend is like. And Simon knows exactly what we are up to. They let anyone buy $10K/day at standard fees. But they don't want to sell $100K at discounted fees that all are going to be drained through no profit PIN transactions at Walmart 30 minutes later. In that scenario, they aren't getting swipe fees nor are they geting any benefits of holding your money. Edited by Konrad2012

  • 3 weeks later...

I don't think this will cause me any issues until the day comes when the registers are hardcoded against Vanilla.

Hopefully you're not holding a bunch of them if/when that happens. Where else can you buy MOs with Vanillas?

I'm thinking there is ~0.01 or less chance that this is a forged document by a counter RAT team intended to reduce the pressure on USPS and nothing will change.

...and ~0.5 chance in any given trip to the USPS that the register will be coded to reject Vanilla and you will be stuck with what you have if you don't have any other avenue.

Therefore I should start trying to make MOs at a few places and see if I do have any other avenue...

...and until I find one or more keep it to comfortable spendable quantities VGCs.
