Konrad2012
^I'll keep that in mind! I'll be app'ing for their Spark Cash sometime later. Search around for the $500 bonus offer. They sent me one in the mail. $500 for $4.5K in 90 days. I thought it was $5K spend, but they corrected me yesterday.

Konrad2012
wwwhhhaaaatt! AWESOME! I'll stop by a branch too, maybe a chance there as well. Chase routinely offers in-branch specials...that often their employees aren't even aware of. So I would definitely try to go to a Cap One branch and have someone search the best available offers, Edited April 1, 2015 by Konrad2012
mrjuggalo9er
If there was absolutely no issue with msing, there would be no risk. There is no risk so what are you talking about? There are a bunch of people with missing Redbird funds from 2/25 who would beg to differ.Going to need a little more details than that. There was a system glitch. Persistent people pushed through it and managed to get their funds sent to never-never-land. CC charged, Redbird not loaded. Amex has credited a few, but others are still floating. Redbird CS is nearly useless. I sincerely doubt this is true This did happen... check flyertalk thread on redbird. There was also a shut down letter that was proven fake on flyer talk I do not worry at all about someone robbing me hauling gift cards. ...Mr .357 insures this Edited April 1, 2015 by mrjuggalo9er

Rorer_714
If there was absolutely no issue with msing, there would be no risk. There is no risk so what are you talking about? You may lose a gift card. Buy a gift card that has been skimmed for fraud. Lose a recently opened credit line that will only report for 2 months because the creditor shut you down. Get robbed because you are seen buying thousands in gift cards. It also comes down to the way it's viewed in the eyes of the ms'er. I think what you meant to say is that there is very minimal risk in this. You can also get hit by a car on the way to MS. I don't look at that as a risk. Omnipotent
Just got approved for Chase Ink... does anyone know how to check which places Chase has level 3 info on so I can avoid them? I'd like to get a few VGC's to max 5% on office supplies I would suggest you stick to the tried and true. STAPLES.

xxRONNIExx
Wanted to try my Cap QS today but the charge wouldnt go through for $1000. I got a notification on my phone but didnt check it. It was a fraud alert from Cap One. Anyway I used my Chase Sap with no problem for the same amount. I'll go back and use the QS tomorrow. I called Cap One and told them it was actually me using the card for that amount. Hopefully it will work tomorrow.

Those risks are indeed real. But accepting them as risks allows me to quantify the max exposure (or potential loss) I could take. In other words what I have to self-insure against. I have no problems with doing MS but I prefer to have some checks and balances so that I do end up in a situation that I can't walk free of. So when doing M$, I try to have enough cash around to float whatever accounts that may get tied up for a while. In my case with my methods, I'd assume about 50% of monthly M$ could get tied up for several months and I have cash around to float that. Similarly, I assume the potential to forever lose upto 25% of my monthly M$ amount. I'd fight tooth and nail to get that back when that happens but things don't always end up the way you want. Every risk mentioned is an everyday risk and has nothing to do with MS except maybe the last one that is a stretch.
daslim1
Are there any specific cards that you should not use to MS? Besides 1% cash back, no rewards? Specifically referring to creditors that frown upon it or have more of a tendency to close or F/R.

SpootyPuff
Thinking of getting a bluebird to supplement my redbirds... what are the limits for BB? From what I've read - $1999 via Kate per day if I were to load GC's... what's the monthly load limit on it? I'm thinking that's what I'll use for my new Chase Ink. Ink -> Staples GC -> BB -> bill pay out. I'm trying to get my parents a new washer & dryer Decent washer/dryer at Amazon is around $1600, so $100 Amazon GC's via CapOne's points is 15.5k per. I would get 40k from Venture bonus...just need another 22k on top for $400 Amazon GC's Then, Ink UR points are 1:1 at Amazon so if I meet spend using Staples GC's... I'll come out with 75k including bonus. I'll only have $450 to contend with... at that point, it's either pay $ or M$ the rest. WM ATM is 1999 per ten minutes. There is no maximum amount. The max load amount is dependent on the load limits of the card you are loading to.
