I've been trying to get this card for a year, so when I finally got that pop-up I was on it like white on rice. And I'm supposed to be on the farm - lol.

Quick charge $750 as fast as possible. Your $100 bonus in Rewards Credits posts pretty quick. You don't have to wait until statement cuts to get the credit.

Platinum members have to pay resort fees now JFYI. Where are you staying?

Thanks for the tip, also do you know how long it takes till the Platinum status upgrade hits your TR account?

Still don't know where we are staying, what do you recommend? We want to stay on the strip and I was considering Caesar's.

It sounds like you and I have different requirements on where we will stay. I only stay at properties that are free not counting the resort fees. At Harrah's, Rio, Flamingo, and Bally's you can stay free. Most people consider these the "Dumpy" properties. If you are thinking Caesar's I am pretty sure that is over $100. I usually find the best special rates booking through TotalRewards.com.

Even though people rip on the Flamingo, I really loved the room there. The floor to ceiling windows with a view of the courtyard were really cool.

I am pretty sure the Platinum status should come through by next month. If it doesn't, go to the Total Rewards Desk and they should help you. Your Platinum will be good through 2016.

Just to add in my two cents on this. I agree with pwd847 and you should just go to the total rewards desk and tell them you need a new card. You should also make sure you have a login setup for your total rewards card so you can check offers/balances etc. The cool thing about being platinum is that you are automatically offered their slot/blackjack mid-week tournaments. Depending on your situation, you could have a Monday-Thursday high end room for just the resort fees (I DO miss having those waived with this card). But you get really good rates/offers so constantly look and do different searches.

Also, make sure you ONLY redeem your total rewards credit at locations that allow it (dining, shopping, etc). Don't try to use them for any other redemption online as the value is reduced by almost half. But it's really nice when your in vegas for things like the buffets... you can just skip the line at all of the locations. Just flash your card and run ahead.

The other thing that is not heavily promoted is the offerings and credits you get. I always get between $10-$30 slot credit for Reno (2 hours from Sacramento). So when I go up there I go for other reasons and then just pop in and use the credit and leave. They still send them to me because of my Platinum status.

Last bit is they added it so if you spend 5k in the calendar year, you get to keep platinum. I churn a lot of credit (work, gambling when I am not in the US, etc) and just pay it back for the 5,000 worth spent just keep platinum now.

Congrats on the approval and nice CL. Is the pop up just as you log in to your account, or is there anything else that you do?

fill out the page as though you are going to reserve a room. Right before you pay or hit "submit order" a box should pop up. OR just call the reservation line and they will tell you. Also my G/F got the card at the Total Rewards desk when she got another card in Vegas. The lady started saying, "Oh, did you know that you are pre-approved for.......blah blah blah".

I'm not adverse to free! And I like Bally's and the Rio so this is great to hear! Thank you pwd847 and imma for the great advice. I will let you know which one I end up with! Very excited for this trip, and I will be going to Vegas more this year so this is good stuff.:)

The Chase Hyatt card gives Hyatt Platinum status which MGM will match to their Gold status.

Still will have to pay resort fees at either but it opens up some additional options.

We're staying at Cosmopolitan on the next trip.

That is good to know! The last time I went to Vegas I experienced a MGM resort for the first time. I must say, their customer service seemed better than Caesars.

This will be our first stay at a MGM property, we had been pretty loyal to Caesars before. But this will help to change it up for us a little. We typically go once a year, sometimes twice.

Plus, I'm no room snob but it would be nice to get a discount offer from TR for something other than Ballys/Rio/Flamingo.

Maybe it's just me being older these days but I like to have a nice place to nurse a hangover.

Since I go to Ameristar sometimes and they are a marketing partner with MGM I started getting promo stays at MGM resorts that is why we stayed at NYNY the last time we went.

My advice to everyone is to play a couple dollars at as many casino's owned by different companies as possible. I get promo stays at like 6 different casino's properties and I link them all together for a free week!

I tried that number...endless transfers

What were you asking them? Oh yeah you are looking for the preapproval. What is your score? It doesn't take much to get approved for this card.

Are you opted IN or OUT of pre-screened offers on your CR's?
