Hello there,

I'm very new to this post. But for what I've seen I started my Dspt proccess the wrong way. I have dispted all negative items on my CP. One debtor already valitated the debt. I know I should have sent a letter 1st then dispt. What should I do now that everything has been done. How do I respond to this validation? Should I dispt online again or which route should I take? I will appreciate any successful suggestions. Thank you.

Welcome to Credit Boards!

Do you paper copies of your credit reports, mailed to you from Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian?

If not, you should order those first before doing anything else.

The phone numbers to order them are in the link below.

While you are waiting for the reports to arrive in the mail, there is plenty of great material to read here.

You'll be amazed at what you can learn.

Here's a good place to start:

http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=539677&page=3&do=findComment&comment=5215279

There is no way to answer the questions you asked.

We don't know what credit bureau you disputed with,

what type of negative tradeline it was,

what reason you gave for your dispute,

what was the DOFD,

and so forth.

But the good news is you can learn some great strategies here for cleaning up your credit reports.

And after you read a little more, you'll know what all the terms I used above mean.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding.

I already ordered paper reports, so they should be on the way. But Before doing that, I filed disputes with all CRA for all negative items. The validation came from Experian for that specific item. It was reported 08/2015 as collectn. The dispt reason that it was not mine. I don't recall owing them for this specific service.

Should I just wait for the results from the others disputes as well from all CRA and what should be my next step if they all get validated?

Thanks!

Yes, wait for all your current disputes to close out.

Should be 30-45 days at the most.

They might all get verified -- but you may get lucky and knock a few off!

In the meantime, keep reading and learning.

In the link I posted, one great starting point is the PsychDoc series.

He talks about triaging your reports.

When you get your paper reports, do that first.

Make sure you understand these terms, among others:

DOFD, CO, OC, CA, JDB, PR, SOL, TL, BD

Then, post all your negative tradelines including DOFD and creditor name, grouped by category.

People will be happy to help you find the best strategy to attack them.

While you are reading, check out other peoples posts in this forum.

See what they are trying to get off their reports, how they are doing it, and what questions other members are asking them.

There are specific ways to attack each type of negative, and certain tactics work best with certain creditors.

Good luck!

Bumping for advice from others.

I don't have experience with most of these creditors.

Unfortunately, OC charge-offs are often very difficult to get deleted.

I would start by disputing all addresses except your current address off your reports.

This is one of the few times that disputing by phone is okay.

Call EQ and TU - they will probably delete all the old addresses with no questions.

Read the Master EX address thread - EX will give you a hard time for any addresses tied to negative tradelines.

Also get rid of any other erroneous personal info

name variations

social security variations

old phone numbers

Is Verizon reporting directly - or through a CA?

If it is a CA, read this for ideas:

Pay OC Instead of CA Process + Letter

Good luck!
